It might be great it just doesn't grab me like the San Fran move and embracing the lack of a secret identity did.

And I'm really not that interested in grounded in reality lawyering.

Did you read Soule's She-Hulk?

Three issues but the art and the lawyering killed it for me. I just don't care about courtroom drama, never have.

If they're moving to bring Matt more in line with the Netflix show, I can't say I'd be broken up if this meant quietly resurrecting Karen Page and ignoring her porn star/junkie comics backstory.

I'm sure that TV!Karen's got some skeletons in her closet all her own, but man, her Miller to Nocenti days are cringe-worthy.

Karen should never get resurrected. They told about every story they could with her and have shown how interesting new love interests can be. Mia :(

Its pretty much a given that his apprentice is somehow related to Stick, right? I think they are going to sneak some kick rear end ninja stories into this crime noir series. I cant wait.

(does this count as image leeching? it's a pdf dunno where to rehost those.)

This Marvel catalogue has the following fun stuff on the way for DD collections:

DAREDEVIL EPIC COLLECTION: A TOUCH OF TYPHOID TPB
DAREDEVIL BY FRANK MILLER OMNIBUS COMPANION HC (NEW PRINTING)
ELEKTRA BY FRANK MILLER OMNIBUS HC (NEW PRINTING)

Very excited they're reprinting the omnibus companion. That's an easy pickup for me. Elektra omni is probably worth grabbing, too, right? Bill Sienkiewicz is easily my favorite artist.

Hell yeah. Elektra: Assassin is a best-ever candidate for both Sienkiewicz and Miller.

I kinda want all three of those, it's dope that they're finally reprinting the Typhoid Mary stuff.

So I laughed out loud at ten fingers, it just so dumb looking. Hope they weren't trying to build up menace with the guy.

Thinking about it, I think Soule's biggest problem here is that Waid and Samnee were just a hard act to follow. I feel a bit let down by the new #1.

The second biggest problem is the weird quasi-reset switch.

I believe in a universe that doesn't care, and people that do.

I don't hate Soule as a writer but he's never wowed me either. I didn't read Daredevil #1 yet but I have a pretty good idea of where to place my expectations if I pick it up.

I loved it.

That loving art work, man. :chanpop:

Matt being more proactive in his prosecution role is also a cool change, I'm so used to Matt representing the innocent and getting them cleared.

Soules writing feels more like a continuation of the Bendis style.

Yo that comic stunk. So safe and normal it hurts. It doesn't have to be like Waid/Samnee but give it something.

OK, the art style, every interview Soule did, the TV show's success, all of it pointed to: This comic will be more like the Bendis-era, then people buy it, and are shocked that it's dark and urban and like the Bendis era and the TV show? :psyduck:

Like, I don't go to a burger joint, order the Onion Supreme and complain "Yo, why all the onions?" if I know I don't like onions. (Or hell, to use a recent comics example: I like Batman Beyond as a show and a character. I didn't buy a single issue of the current book because it's really obvious that's not what they're doing, based on covers and all advertising.)

You didn't look at the cover? I'm not asking you to stalk Soule on Twitter, I'm wondering what part of you saw that cover and thought: This will be utterly different from the Daredevil we've seen before.

I don't know, I guess you got me. I think both the artist and writer are capable of better, and have been before. This is tired homage.

Steve Rogers was loving awesome in #4. I really wish we'd see more of this Steve rather than bringing him back as Cap.

Soule loving nailed a Nick Fury style character and I always love when Daredevil teams with Steve.

Next issue: Elektra!

There's a decent sale on various DD collections on comixology right now. Looks like individual issues of Waid's run are on sale until the 17th, and there's a collection sale too. I picked up Born Again for $4.

I thought Daredevil had a really good wrap up with the Tenfingers arc. Blindspot had a really great role and Matt has a good relationship with him, it's nice to see him have something positive in his life. That shot of Matt beheading that...thing was :krad: The art is fantastic on this book, it keeps the dour palette without aping Maleeve.

Also holy poo poo I'm glad Matt has a secret identity again.

Yeah I am really enjoying the series. The writing is only okay but the art is so loving amazing.

The fight with the beast was cool and I loved the 10 triggered gun.

Honest question: Does Soule's new DD series have a lot of legal stuff in it? I have to admit, that is my favorite aspect of Daredevil comics. Now that the first TPB is out, I would like to pick it up if it deals with courtroom drama, legal procedure, ethical issues -- anything like that, especially considering Soule is a practicing attorney. If it's nonstop ninja action, I would be much less interested.

It mainly contains Matt clashing with his new boss, no court room action yet.
