There's only a few days left on a good friend's indiegogo campaign for their short film. Looks pretty interesting! http://igg.me/at/lazarusfilm/x/6673736

I am excited for March of the Ants and I don't know why. I think it reminds me Catan without the hatred and anger.

This is a good cause if you like old warbirds, the Australian National Aviation Museum is restoring a Beaufort Bomber and with our current government of inept neocon shitlords selling and defunding everything not nailed down they're not likely to get funds from anywhere but the public.

Better pictures would also be nice; since he has the prototype book he made for his son, he should be able to take some pictures of it. I generally like to see a breakdown of how kickstarter runners expect to use the funds, since it's nice to know they've actually budgeted and aren't just pulling a number out of their rear end.

I don't know what you do about that since its a book, and books don't inherently have art or anything to show off. But... it needs something to catch the eye.

I don't really go in for the games side of KS a great deal but I just really love the post-apocalyptic minimalist theme these guys have going: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/29211325/sheltered I'd probably not have filmed it in what is clearly my bedroom either but it's clearly pretty low budget stuff so forgive and forget. Not sure that I can quite mentally bypass that they are clearly employing a 7 year old child as main artist but hey.

I am pleasantly astonished at the star power backing the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter. They just now announced that the cast of BSG (Sackhoff, Olmos, Helfer, Bamber, and Trucco) is going to do a Reading Rainbow live event. This is in addition to various set visits, Seth McFarlane matching pledges, Veronica Mars, and of course the cast of various Star Treks. Goddamn.

They're now officially one of the top 5 Kickstarter most funded projects ever, the other top 4 projects (Pebble, OUYA, Pono & Veronica Mars) have all thrown in and are helping out, they've got the most backers of any KS project ever and it looks like they'll hit the $5 million mark over their final 24 hours. Oh and then Seth McFarlane will then chuck in another million bucks, making them the fourth or possibly the third highest funded KS project.

Good on them! I wish the Australian government would get their heads out of their asses about wartime assets long enough for my museum to buy that B-24 that's stuck over there too.

A Land of Narrow Paths posted:A Land of Narrow Paths is a cartographic art and research project dedicated to bringing Edo period Japan to life for an English-speaking audience. The map includes period-specific locales, thoroughfares, shrines, temples, landmarks, and geographical features. The landscapes are drawn digitally, but the backgrounds and textures are created from handmade mokuhanga (woodblock prints) and washi (Japanese paper). Atop it all are hand-calligraphed, English-language labels. If you like maps and/or historical Japan, you ought to check this out. It looks incredible.
