I was in 11th grade. A couple of the guys in the Klik community (old amateur game dev community based around Clickteam software) had accounts here. I lurked for a year and registered with my brand new debit card.

I've been a goon for over 10 years. I heard about the site through what amounts to word of mouth via other forums and websites. I met some people online that I spoke with regularly by gaming or through instant messenger who would reference it often. I was curious, so I started reading the front page. It didn't take me long after that to join the forums. It's consistently the most well-rounded, witty, and humorous forums and site I frequent by a large margin.
