Mashed Potato posted:Where did GMG say they wouldn't be giving out keys in time for pre-load? I had a look and couldn't find any statement from them saying this? When you preorder a game from GMG you get an email from them that says "We'll get you your key as soon as possible, but we don't guarantee that it'll be in time to preload, it all depends on where we're getting them from."

I don't think they'd do a blog post about it (do they even have a news feed or a blog?), it's just that they've released keys around the time the pre-load starts for a good while now. They did it for fallout 4 and just cause 3, I don't see why xcom 2 should be an exception.

Publishers keep messing with Nuuvem, I'm already resorting to secondary paypal accounts and virtual credit cards to buy my games cheap, now they're going for Brasil-only keys. Where did you find the information about older keys being region free? I bought mine during the Xmas sales to get one of their free games, but I can't find anything on their twitter or FB feeds. I'd be really surprised if 2K actually gave them different sets of keys.

Aw man why did they have to change the look of the mutons? They were classic! I don't care for their new look. Hopefully we get a few good new types of aliens, and then mods can add even more.

I dunno, I felt similar at the start...but seeing them as single aliens often enough, as opposed to in a pack of fellow Mutons, I've started to agree with their change in looks by this point. Makes them look more independent. Whereas for EU and EW, yea...it made sense for them to be, in Beagle's words, all: "FOOTBALL FOOTBALL HIKE!" looking pure beef and muscle.

#NotMyMutons Its funny looking back at the original Xcom cutscene and character designs, it seems extremely obvious to me that they were ripping off Rob Liefeld style 90s action comics. Like, look at this: Youngbloods is 100% the origin of Xcom armor. Same people. Same exact people lol. There was a lot of copying in early PC games though, Doom stole art and music from all over the place. Zaphod42 fucked around with this message at 19:41 on Jan 28, 2016 |

So I beat the original game ,I found it a bit short, but maybe its because I save scummed some, Im not sure. Im going to buy the expansion and was wondering if I should play through it again with the expansion or should I skip straight to Long War mod which I hear is very popular?

EW is good, long war is divisive. Save scumming will cut down the time to a win immensely though.

I would get EW and try doing an iron man game. I used to save scum a lot and I can't help myself unless iron man mode is on, but it is more enjoyable imo.

If you want to play another campaign with more maps, equipment, enemies, and some surprise twists, play an EW campaign. It's a great expansion that really improves the game. If you want to play a campaign that changes practically everything other than the basic combat mechanics, and is a lot longer with more options, play Long War.

Keiya posted:I haven't paid attention in months, is xcom 2 looking good or not? Looking extraordinarily good. EDIT: They've been vague about a lot of the endgame stuff and a lot of the later-on goodies, but this is nothing new. Firaxis was even resistant to admit they had blaster bomb launchers back when Enemy Unknown was in previews. They are very stubborn about playing with all their cards close to their chest. I'm curious about one of the upcoming DLCs they promise in the spring, the one that mentions "elite" aliens and XCOM having new elite alien hunter specializations. Hmm... I don't know if their movement has improved from the original, but they have the ability to melee after a dash just like rangers and stun lancers do, which basically doubles their attack range. Instead of producing zombies, they produce cocoons which pop out one baby chrysallid per round for the next three rounds or until you destroy it. Babies have half the HP of a normal chrysallid, cocoons have far more HP than a normal chrysallid. Also the babies can create cocoons just as the adults can.
