Great job with this! Hopefully your next project does just as well, given how tricky translation LPs can be. Edit: Update's on the previous page.

Ooh, man, this was a great ride all the way through, and I highly doubt I'd ever even have heard of this game without the help of this LP. Thanks much for asking the time to translate and show this gem off!

Gotta love the ancient prophesies that leave enough wiggle room for "pure of heart" to also apply to hearts that are pure evil Does Malthur have any extra dialog if he sticks around for the final fight?

Well, I guess the final boss isn't surprising. That it was hard IS surprising, god drat you'd be screwed if you weren't so hideously overpowered. Nice ending! Thanks for the LP and for inadvertently helping me convince Edward_Tohr that RPG Maker can be used to make good games!

This LP has been absolutely top-notch, and the game itself has been seriously impressive even before considering it's an RPG Maker creation. Edward_Tohr posted:Gotta love the ancient prophesies that leave enough wiggle room for "pure of heart" to also apply to hearts that are pure evil That must be one of the most criminally underused twists.

Congrats on finally finishing this. It was a great read. If you hadn't mentioned missing the Saharian tea set, I don't think anyone would've noticed it.

Congrats on finishing a great LP! You did a great job showing off a really well done amateur RPG, TheMcD, and I look forward to re-reading it someday in the archives

Thanks for finishing this. I really loved the game when I first played it, and I got nostalgic, seeing the ending. Makes me kind of sad it's over already.

Thanks for an amazing LP, McD! I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be eagerly waiting for your next LP.

Thanks for the Lp, man! It was a really neat ride through memory lane, so to speak. And as a native German speaker, I can say that you did a really good job on the translation

I really, really want to see Malthur changing that diaper. I'll live, but it will be a hollow life, I suspect. Thank you for the LP! Wonderful game. I hope you wind up doing Vampires' Dawn 1 and 2. 1 is sort of bare-bones (and the translation is really horrendous), but 2 looks like a significant improvement.

Bonus - Goons Chatter About Other RPG Maker Games On Vampires Dawn, Part I: a cartoon duck posted:If nothing else this is really making me wanna play Vampires Dawn again. VD was the only RPGMaker game I played when they were a big deal here, and even then only because it was practically impossible for a while to buy a gaming mag that didn't include a cd with the game on it. I was only dimly aware of UiD because it usually got mentioned whenever VD came up, but by the time I completed VD I was pretty burned out on RPGMaker stuff already so I never bothered with it, so I'll be following this thread closely. Tin Tim posted:To be fair, VD was long as hell. Being fed up with Maker games after finishing it, kinda comes with the territory. Still, it was very popular back in the days, and pretty much deserved it. No matter what you think about the whole vampire thing, even though it was long before the mainstream hype, the story is neat and the game scratched at the limits of what you could do with the RpgMaker. I remember how impressed I was with the system behind your powers, and the humanity scale that was connected to it. Iirc, there were a lot of things that would have a lasting impact depending on what you did, and of course, there are also the different endings that you could get. TheMcD posted:Yeah, VD was fuckhuge, and VD2 was even worse. I spread the game out over months and still ended up burnt out. On Vampires Dawn, Part II: Tallgeese posted:My girlfriend and I tried out Vampires Dawn. Let me break it down. a cartoon duck posted:I actually did power through Vampires Dawn just because of this thread and well, I guess the polite way of putting it is that it's a product of its time. Either I just had way lower standards as a teen or the game plain didn't age well. TheMcD posted:I feel similar. Reading through that, I can't imagine just how in the gently caress I managed to play through both VD1 and 2 without any real problems or ragequitting, and when I think back to the time I played it, I only remember good things about it. a cartoon duck posted:In conclusion: On other games: Tin Tim posted:So, since TheMcD earlier said that it's okay for me to talk about other games, I'm going to do that!

I definitely buy Malthus surviving that experience more than Tarius. ...though the idea of Malthus the babysitter just gives me the giggles for some reason.

I just want to echo the sentiment of the thread so far and say thank you for an awesome LP, while I played Vampires Dawn and Aurora's Tear back in the day, I somehow completely missed out on Unterwegs in Düsterburg, so thanks for showing the game off and doing an awesome job on the translation.

Glazius posted:I definitely buy Malthus surviving that experience more than Tarius. I think you mean Malthur, though the idea of Thomas Malthus babysitting and probably accusing the poor child of dooming the world to starvation makes me giggle as well Also chiming in as a thread lurker to thank you for a great LP, McD!

I read through the last few updates just now. Thanks for completing this LP and show off a cool RPG! I'm amazed you only got into 107 battles. I'd expect a lot more normally.

If you're wondering what I'll be up to now, I'm going to be taking over gatz's Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines LP because he can't continue it due to things happening. So if you haven't gotten enough of my LPing (less likely) or kick-rear end vampires (more likely), then head over there and join the fun (if you haven't already). There's plenty of interesting lore discussion to be had!
