they also have our currently only nuclear reactor which is cool and good

That nuke plant is the reason I haven't bought a wall calendar in over a decade, because PG&E sends one to every household every year so we know how to evacuate (the 101, duh).

you can actually inflate your scrote pretty safely with sterile saline, syringes, needles, and aseptic technique. its a niche kink iirc

the saline just slowly gets absorbed into your blood but in the meantime you got a big round smooth distended nutsack
wait you're telling me fuckin pg&e is in charge of a nuclear reactor? the folks whose aggressive deferring of maintenance has a loving body count?

The nuclear division is it's own separate thing, they're pretty aggressively walled off from the rest of the company both politically and getting a site pass is, not impossible, but drat hard

I don't see the problem - if the earth swallows the plant whole, then there's no radiation risk!

thats frightening that the entity that cant operate gas lines or overhead power lines without killing people is running a nuclear reactor

i've no reason to think they're incompetent, same as i have no reason to think pg&e's linemen and gas...men? are. the linemen cutting work early for some beers with the boys didnt burn down paradise, their hours being cut by leadership did

pg&e could rain fission fragments on half of california and sf voters would still vote down a mud if it didn't land on them

I don't understand how you can have Schiff vs Garvey for two senate seats. What happens when Schiff wins both?

Either way, boring matchup. I split on Lee and Porter.

vvvv that makes sense. I also suspect the Schiff win is just an issue with poor turnout of as low as 20%. The people that would vote for Lee or Porter didn't show up. There's also no Bernie to excite people to vote.

Schiff is the replacement for the last bit of Feinstein's current term (Election #1), and then is senator for the following term for that Senate seat (Election #2)

They are still counting ballots. The official count has gone from 21% when that NPR article was published yesterday up to 26% today. The state's current estimate is that about 1/3 of ballots are still uncounted. The final count certainly looks likely to be in line with historical averages.

"Newsom, who made the measure a signature proposal, spent significant time and money campaigning on its behalf. He raised more than $13 million to promote it with the support of law enforcement, first responders, hospitals and mayors of major cities. Opponents raised just $1,000."

Pretty rough there, it passed by 29,000 votes out of seven million. Not a good sign for his personal influence and popularity. Now the question is if Prop 1 is well enough designed to work, or it ends up like, say, Oregon botching their drug issue.

cops, firefighters, hospital(administrator)s, and mayors aren't the last people i'd trust about how to house people, but they're pretty far down the fuckin list

Firefighters aren't completely terrible they're at least pretty good at their job, don't pick skulls as their symbol of choice. At worst they're neutral good. I've not met a firefighter I would throw out of my house

Homelessness has become dramatically more visible here in Butte County over the last decade and city councils are doing everything in their power to immiserate the unhoused in hopes of driving them out, so yeah, I don’t understand why they’re implying that the problem here isn’t big enough to justify the spending.

every firefighter i've ever met who didn't leave after a few years was a huge chud despite being a unionized government employee. idk how representative that is, as most of the ones I've met have been Cal Fire, but still. Not people I'd look to for anything other than the "hassle them into invisibility" status quo

Firefighters are CHUDs for sure (especially leadership) and have been chudding it up all month in LA with their panties in a twist about how bus and bike lanes are a threat to our liberty:

https://la.streetsblog.org/2024/02/15/firefighters-oppose-l-a-city-safe-streets-initiative-measure-hla

quote:

"I hate to tell you men and women, California - and Los Angeles in particular - this is a car community. You may not like it," Rice declared, "but it is." Rice derisively asked, "Do you really think you're going to see buses go faster than 12 miles an hour?"

Rice declared that "a small group of elite... Democratic Socialists" are behind Measure HLA.

This is especially embarrassing for everyone involved since LA Metro has officially set a goal of getting minimum average bus speeds above 15 MPH (crazy ambitious, I know) by the 2028 Olympics...and firefighters will be able to use bus lanes themselves.

With public servants like this, who needs enemies?
