Still don't care about Masters' impotence. It was nice to see Lester stand up to him though. Artemis and Dr. Goodhair's escapades were amusing enough this week, and even though Libby's plot finally wound it's way to the point it's been super obviously building to for awhile, I did enjoy that the CORE guy put up a good fight to try and stop it.

Teddy Sears really sells the awkward adorableness of Dr Austin and his scenes tonight broke up a lot of tension. I really enjoyed laughing through those parts, and of course, with Betty. Betty is still my favorite week after week.

I have nothing else to add to this thread that hasn't been said already, but I will say I'm glad to see Artemis doing something other than having implies crazy sex with Danny DeVito.

The scenes with Austin were hilarious. And made me laugh and cringe in equal measures since it reminded me of terrible attempted role play with an ex. Other than that, all I have to say is good for you Libby. Good for you.

I'm so disappointed this thread is only 3 pages. I just got all caught up and I love this show. Is it the title that throws people off?

I can imagine people cycling through the DirecTV guide. "Hmmm, 'Masters of Sex' on Showtime. Well, I'm certainly not watching that softcore porno."

Interesting way to choose to end a season - not so much a clean conclusion, but setting the stage for the next season. I still need to think on this because a lot happened, but also did not happen. But Beau Bridges was great to have back as a cameo

I love any mention of Masters being a pedantic sperg about language and details. In real life he was almost emotionally dead and even then he only married Johnson because she considered leaving the work and marrying someone else.

As I said before, a ton of actors could easily gently caress up playing the proto-sperglord like Masters, and Michael Sheen doesn't. You could see how uncomfortable he was when holding Virginia when she was crying about her kids, it was so accurate.

Masters looked better in a regular tie. Just because every other character said they didn't like it, doesn't make it not obvious. That bow tie is dumb.

I think Betty was saying that he behaves in a restricted manner when his usual style of dress is upset. You overly-literal TV viewer.

Also, I rarely feel compelled to talk back to the TV show, but "I'm 29" from Lester? Hahahahaha, no, you aren't.

They didn't really stick the landing either, because I don't believe for a second that Ethan betraying them will cost Virginia custody of her kids. That plan of hers was godawful, so Ethan didn't matter one bit.

People in the 50s/60s did age pretty badly though. A combination of terrible fashion with bad health I guess. I liked the finale. Didn't really understand Virginia's plan about CBS helping her get the kids back. Even if the video was boring and wholesome. And did she really have to become a one night a week parent? It didn't seem like there was any middle ground. Masters really is a terrible poo poo. I loved the eye roll as he was hugging Virginia. Plus comforting her by going on about all the 'work' they're going to get up to. Woo. Lucky girl.

netally posted:People in the 50s/60s did age pretty badly though. A combination of terrible fashion with bad health I guess. And then her plan was literally "well, if this video comes out, it will garner immense attention and prestige for my work" and she would hold it over him instead of the other way around when she would go back to take her kids for, what I assume, would've been full custody. Yeah, she thought that if she became a public figure (or to quote her, "maybe even household names") and that she was a woman it would be a shoe-in to win her kids back like no one's business. I think I liked this season more simply by the virtue they really just poo poo on Virgina's Mary Sue-ness from the first season and made sure she wasn't actually just some impossible character that almost always gets her way. She's been through a lot this season and I loved it; she almost felt like a non-factor besides maybe the pilot and to drive Masters (and Ethan)'s egos last season, honestly. And on another note, even though Libby knew the whole time that Bill and Ginny were pretty much having an affair, I don't think there was anything malicious about telling Virgina to give up her children to her ex. Libby is kinda a sad character but I kinda like where she is right now despite that.

Agreed. I think what you can really put together about Libby from this season is that she doesn't actually have malice in her or anything. She was dumb when it came to how she treated Coral and attempted to do whatever she could to atone for it, but it wasn't intentional. I kinda like her a lot more now that the season's through, even though her parts were dragging the gently caress out of the first half of the season.

Libby's overall arch took some time to pay off and looking back at the entire arc it plays well. Sometimes it's difficult to see the forest through the trees. In something related, I listen to the Go Bayside! podcast and Lester's actor was the guest on episode 77. (Podcast is a critical examination of each Saved by the Bell episode, as though it's a glorious masterpiece being torn to shreds). If you want to listen to something fun, it's a great way to spend ~90 minutes http://podbay.fm/show/604790829/e/1406055600?autostart=1
