ARC-1987 "Scar"

Wounds 18/18 - Strain 10/13 - Soak 7

"You should be safe now, just keep your head down and let us clear this out." With the VIP secured, Scar turned to the unharmed guard. He closed the distance to begin his attack on him. He rushed toward the guard. Hoping to stop the him before he fired that disruptor pistol again.

With one swing he missed, but managed to force the enemy to drop his pistol in the air as he had to move quickly to avoid the blade. Still, there is no telling what other weapons these guards have for close quarters combat though.

11/11 Wounds, 13/13 Strain | Soak 4

Twangs snorts at the R2 unit's tone, "Someone grab Janine since she can't roll herself... I'm gonna see if this thing is old enough to just yank some wires out or something."

He hits the door control for the Hyperdrive and snap rolls in, pulling up his carbine and scanning the room for threats as he ducks into the nearest cover. Logic would dictate that with no atmo, there wouldn't be much, but droids don't have to breathe.

If the room is clear, he inspects the machinery to determine if it's operational and figure out how to disable it (Mechanics roll).

If there is a threat, he hopes his roll was quick and quiet enough to not alert it as he takes cover (Stealth roll), and would probably wait for the others to get into position before attacking.

Wounds 13/13 - Strain 11/13 - Soak 5
Cell

"DISRUPTORS?! Why do they have DISRUPTORS!" Lockdown yells, deciding that it's time to kick this fight up a notch. He widens his stance, and levels his weapon at the guard who left himself open fumbling for his weapon. It starts with a small light, then suddenly a gout of flame erupts from the tip of Lockdown's undermounted weapon, engulfing the guard.

Hot air swirls around the guard, with jets of flame reaching out and everyone, and everything around the conflagration. After a few seconds, Lockdown cuts the fuel to the flame projector and rests his weapon on his hip, admiring his handiwork.

FIRE FIRE FIRE: 4eP+2eB+2eD 3 successes, 3 advantage

13 damage, minus soak is 11. I will use my advantage to trigger the blast quality, dealing 5 (2 plus 3 from successes) damage to the other guard (and probably, technically, Scar, sorry buddy, though I think you'll soak it all). I believe this kills both of them. edit: might leave one guard with 1hp left, but I'm ok with that.

Stims hits the ground, barely able to choke back a cry. She stumbles back behind the wall, clutching the side of her stomach in pain. Looking down, she can already see a puddle of blood forming by her feet.

"Damnit!" She cries. "Officer down. Keep firing. I'll... I'll be fine!"

Scrambling, she grabbed her medpac from her back, desperately pulling out flasks, patches, anything that could help. An eye scanned across to her blaster carbine, recently fired. Terrible, but brilliant thoughts coursed through her head, and upon looking down at the incresing puddle, took a deep breath and the gun. She fired two shots into the ground - enough to heat the barrel, and slammed it into the wound.

The pain was, unique. She was certain she wasn't going to die - dying couldn't possibly hurt anywhere near as close as this. Sitting on the ground, in a complete daze, her hands worked on automatic while she contemplated the meaning of life in the universe, patching her side up as best as they could.

Scar leaps forward and slashes forward at the Guard's outstretched pistol. Overwhelmed at the force of the blow, the guard drops the pistol to the ground from the vicious and unexpected attack. Before he can recover, Lockdown opens up with his flamethrower, the thick fire engulfing everything in the entrance to the small room where Gunray was being held. The blast burns Scar's target to a crisp, and leaves the additional guard looking like he crawled out of an explosion, but he's still alive and hanging on.

Meanwhile, Stims is able to stop the bleeding from the hole in her armor that the disruptor bolt caused. She was lucky it was partially stopped by the Plasteel Armor, but it seems that these disruptors were not set to full power, as the guards did not expect to encounter armored troops deep in their prison ship. Stims is able to stim the tide of bleeding coming out of her wound, and, if you could see her face through the helmet, you'd see her eyes focus past the pain and into the job at hand.

Recover 5 Strain with Adavantages

The Final Guard, still reeling from Lockdown's explosive attack, fires his stun rifle back at the Clone Trooper, not realizing that Lockdown's armor would likely stop any attack made by his stun weapon.

Stun Rifle vs Lockdown: 2eA+2eD+1eS 2 failures, 1 threat

Indeed, the attack bounces off of the heavily armored trooper's shoulder, and the Guard's face turns an even greener shade of green as he realized the folly of his attack. He quickly throws his rifle to the ground and gets down on his knees with his hands above ahead while screaming "DONT SHOOT DONT SHOOT" at all of you.

As the roar of the battle dies down, you can hear the same language you heard from outside the door over something clutched in the dead Officer's hand...

Clutched in his green, dead hands is a standard comlink from which the strange language is coming out of.

What do you do now?

Escorting the damaged R2 unit from the rear Droid Bay to the Engineering deck takes a few minutes, and by the time you finally get him there the smell of the dead Mynocks littering the hallway starts to permeate past your suit's sensors and fill your nostrils. Its not an easy smell to overcome either, as the Mynocks seem to have taken this corridor as their home for some time, it seems as if this is a lightly travelled part of the ship.

Once you plug J9 into the Engineering Droid plug, a message spits out on Twang's band.

pre:
Alright, I'm hooked into the main computers. Looks like I can control Engine output and ability, but the Navigation computer is locked out of this system so we can't make any jumps.
What do you want me to do now...meatbag?"
Snooping around the Hyperdrive bay, Twangs doesn't really recognize anything that looks like a hyperdrive. Except for a really, really big enclosed steel case. About the size of a snubfighter. With power cables running into it. There is a small plack on the front of the case.

You can't read much, but what you can read is fascinating. Apparently this ship was initially launched with the name Ussemons as a Deep Space Destroyer out of the Sriluur Shipyards as a first gen Hypercapable Destroyer. The Hyperdrive specs are pretty awful from what you can read. Searching around, you find some cables that should disconnect the Navigation computer from the Hyperdrive core, as long as you don't trigger a jump while removing them.

Roll a 3D Mechanics Check to disable the Hyperdrive with 2 setback because this is really really old, and you don't know poo poo about it.

He begins to look around and keep watch down the hallway. "So, Kale, you have any idea where the rest of the political prisoners are? We need to secure them before more guards arrive."

Scar begins to try and keep watch. Nonetheless, there seemed to be no one down the halls except several more doors. Twangs looks to the others, then spreads his hands, "well what are we standing around for? Those Seps are inbound! This relic isn't jumping anywhere anytime soon. Go grab those Mynock bodies... I have an idea..."

He looks the bodies over and finds one of the ones that looks most charred, probably one of the ones Firebeacon hit. He heads back to the Engine room and uses a random tool to press the Mynock's sucker against the sparking conduit, burning it a little more. Glancing at the others, he gestures around the room, "Spread them out on the console and conduits... Try to keep the blaster marks hidden, if you can, we can probably dupe them into thinking the little bastards caused the malfunction, at least long enough to buy us a few minutes, maybe they'll report in."

He keys his comm, "Janine, we're gonna hide in Environmental and ambush whoever comes to peek... if they're meatbags like us, I want you to close the door on the Engine room, lock them in, and then vent all the atmo... hopefully they won't have enough time to sound an alarm when they're too busy coughing up their lungs. Wait for my signal," he glances around the hallway, "any chance you could vent some steam or something out of these pipes? Hopefully they don't notice the blaster marks on the walls."

The clone jams one of his cam droids up in the piping of the hallway so it has a good view of the intersection... They'd need a good look at the guards to play it safe. He nestles into the doorjam of the Environmental room, draws an arrow and readies his bow, and glances at Ghest and FB, "here's hoping they don't showup with respirators." Keying his bracer to the cam frequency, he settles in for their trap.

You wake up alone. You can tell that time has passed, and you have trouble remembering what you were doing. Then it comes back to you. Assauluting an ancient prison ship. You sit up, and see most of your squad still around you. The ARCs always prevail. But they don't always survive.

After a few moments you remember what happened. You secured the ship, and killed the majority of the guards before the Techno Union ships jumped in. A few of you survived the explosion, but it wasn't without harm. Your mouth tastes like bacta, and one of your limbs doesn't feel...there? You pass out again...

Its a few days later. You've gathered with whats left of your squad in the ship's breifing room. Commander Tex is there.

"Troops, we're glad you made it out alive." The Jedi nods along with what Tex is saying. "What happened? From what we could determine over the radio, the plan was proceeding along fine, but then we stopped getting reports and the ship blew up!"

Hi! I'm starting this again. If people are still interested, I'd like to get at least 3 or 4 and proceed. Tell your story of what happened at the end of the last mission. Then add 20 XP to your character, and replace one part of your body with a cybernetic!

Last thing he remembered hitting the button to launch the escape pod with Kale Gunray in it. He lost his right arm. Gravity was offline and droplets of blood floated in the air. Sirens blared. Blackness.

It began right after the fight with the prison guards, the enemy came with reinforcements and swarmed them after they got into the hallway. They all laid down a very heavy suppressive fire with their heavy repeating blasters that managed to separate the group. Kale was in cover but in danger. Scar noticed right away. He remembered that his mission was to ensure that political prisoners like Kale got out safely. If this mission was going to hell, he would at least ensure it was a success. Scar rushed over grabbed the Nemodian and rushed to the escape pod. He threw him in there, but before he could hit the button a wookiee that was under the employ of the Separatists charged him. Scar tried to hold his ground but couldn't withstand the furious blows of the wookiee. He lost his right arm in the process. Right when the wookiee was about to deliver the death blow to him, he vaporized into ash. Scar turned to look at Kale with his disruptor pistol. He saved his life. Now, time to repay the favor. Stims gave an account on what happened from her side of the firefight.

Thanks to her previous injury, she had found herself slowed down and been held back by blaster fire, and as such had headed to the escape pod to secure it for both of them. When the wookie had attacked, she was programming their escape from the prison ship, and as Scar launched them, she had rushed to him to perform emergency surgery on his arm. However, due to the massive loss of blood, she had to do an impromptu transfusion on the spot, leaving Kale to pilot the escape pod to safety. All was well until she heard him mutter 'I'm sorry' before turning around to find a distruptor pistol staring down at her.

When she woke, it turns up she had put up her left hand to possibly block the shot, and it had rendered it useless. It was now replaced with the cyber-scanner limb.

"Eesh, too loud.." Twangs winces before fiddling with something behind his ear... the new Otic implants were still acting up, he hadn't gotten the hang of adjusting the gain on them on the fly.
"WELL, FROM WHAT I REMEMBER, WE SET UP AN AMBUSH FO- WHAT?" he glances to his left as one of the others nudges his elbow and then jerks a thumb downward. "Oh..." he glances down at his bracer as he tunes the mic's waveform a bit more, "... better? Okay, so what I remember was this..."

************************************

Twangs, Firebeacon, and Ghest all crouched low in Environmental as the sound of boots echoed down the hallway further along. Their gambit had been set, hopefully it'd work. As if on cue, the piping on the hallway walls started hissing steam into the corridor, to help cover their battle with the Mynocks. Twangs glanced down as his bracer beeped, the confirmation from Janine that she had started venting steam and was ready to lock the engine room and vent the atmosphere on his command. Good. Things were falling into place.

They saw the shadows first, clearly humanoid, and clearly not droids. Their movements were far too smooth and their footsteps not metallic enough to be the usual sorts of droids the Seps used. First only two, then two more, then another after before the first froggy alien face rounded the turn, shining a flashlight up and down the intersection. Twangs angled his bracer so Firebeacon and Ghest could see the black and white video output from the camera he'd positioned in the corridor. "Ah, poodoo, I was hoping for some bloody droids... this could get dicey." He readies his blaster carbine as Ghest readies his hand on the door controls. The frogs glance around before shrugging and heading toward the engine room. Three of them step inside and begin poking around, one of them clearly toeing a mynock corpse with his boot. Twangs muttered, wishing he had audio on the hall cam, maybe even a better picture, but this would have to do. One of the frogs kneels down and flips over one of the mynocks, before sharply turning and clearly barking something to the others.

"Sithspit, we're blown. Janine, NOW!" He shouts into the bracer as Ghest slaps the door release and Firebeacon brings up his cannon in one smooth motion. The door shoots upward, revealing... an orange haze. They could hear the Engineering door slam shut and the surprised squawks of the frogmen, one of them banging on the door while the other running back down the corridor, spotting the clones in the doorway of Environmental.

"Wait..." Firebeacon had paused, recognizing the mist, "... THAT'S NOT STEAM! DON'T FIRE!"

But it was too late.

The frogman drew his small disrupter pistol and fired, igniting the inert Tibanna gas that had flooded the corridor to cause it to convert into the superheated plasma which was what made it famed for use as engine fuel. Firebeacon wasted no time, dropping the cannon and tackling Ghest to the side, "SHUT THE DOOR!" Twangs was already on it, the gout of superheated plasma racing down the corridor straight at them as he threw his blaster aside and dove at the door control, the door slamming down as the flames licked out...

************************************

"Mup... mup... mup... YOU TWO ALRIGHT? Mup... mup..." Twangs frowned as the continual whine rang in his ears... he thumped the side of his helmet a few times, hearing nothing. Not good. Some sort of shockwave had knocked him over... an explosion? But he hadn't heard anything... the entire Environmental cabin was on fire, had they vented atmo? That'd explain the silence. He switched to his comm, "YOU TWO ALRIGHT?" Firebeacon looked his way, looking worse for wear himself. His helmet bobbed, but still nothing.

Good thing their helmets still had their seals... where were the others? What was going on... he was cut off, unable to hear anything... frantic, he pulled out his distress beacon and turned it on, Seps be damned. They needed evac, and quick.

************************************

"So... yeah, we sat in that burning wreckage until the crews arrived... I don't know how long it was, I couldn't hear a drat thing and my bracer was blown. From what I've gathered, that fuel broke the ship apart? Damned droid..."

"Please, wear it with honor and the thanks of the Con...Army of the Republic." You hardly catch the slight slip by Tex.

"We will return you to your cells, you will be given instructions on your next mission soon. Congradulat......

You awake in a cell that looks nothing like what a hero would be assigned. You can smell an overwhelming stench of machine oil and methane gas. Against the wall opposite the bunks stands a man wearing a prison outfit and smoking a foul smelling cigarrete, the smoke of which burns in your lungs.

"Welcome to Hell boys, or as the Skakoans call it, Mustafar. You must be in a whole heap of trouble for an entire family of brothers to be thrown into this hellhole together." he chuckles at you a little.

Pressed up against the bars Firebeacon tried once more to pull the drat things apart, again to little effect. After a moment straining he pounded on the reinforced metal in frustration. "COME ON DOWN HERE AND FACE ME YOU COWARDS!" he screamed down the hallway. "QUIT HIDING BEHIND YOUR CLANKERS AN- AGH!" with a soft whir of turning servos he fell to one knee. His thigh was on fire as nerves protested to unfamiliar signals and a cocktail of immunosuppressants.

---
He had landed hard on Ghest, pressing him out of the path of a tidal wave of blue green fire. There was an instant, mind-numbing heat from behind him and then and eerie coolness. Everything flammable in the room had ignited but an icy chill crept up Firebeacon's legs and back. "YOU TWO ALRIGHT!" came Twangs shouting voice in his ear.

"Not so loud, you bastard!" he shouted back. The chill crept further and as Firebeacon tried to turn he felt nothing but pain followed by the urge to sleep. "Twangs, listen" he said, though his fellow trooper didn't seem to be paying attention. "I think...I think I'm going into shock. You need to signal a medevac as soon" but the drowsiness would not yield and within moments the dancing fire receded into blackness.
---

Crumpled on the floor of the cell, Firebeacon grunted like sport lifter and hauled himself back to his feet. Their hosts had seen fit to save his life and replace his burned and ruined leg but done nothing for the pain. He stared down at his new prosthetic; intricate metal parts painted in ugly tans and gunmetal. Sep colors. The inhuman, splayed digits clicked and moved like insect parts as he shifted his weight. He was engineered to be the peak human fighting form and now some lump of circuits and Sep tech would determine how he could and couldn't walk. The insult of it burned hotter than the fire that had crippled him and in his rage he imagined all the violence he would repay on their captors.

something weird is going on with the character generator and it's not calculating my WT correctly. It should be at 19 now.

He held his chin with his robotic hand, a grim reminder of that violent encounter with that wookiee. He would not let it happen again.

The situation was bad but not hopeless. Scar sat on the corner trying to figure out what to do next. At least he knew that Twangs, Firebeacon, and Stims made it out alive along with him. The situation became ironic now that they are the prisoners. No one is going to come and spring them out but themselves. He started to try and figure out the guard rotations and see if they had a key and begin planning on his move to figure out a way out.

They always carried a key with them to unlock the door, and he assumed the whole prison complex. He did know that there were regular supply drops that came in on a monthly basis. This could be it. If they could spring a way to get the keys from the guards, they could try and hijack the ship and get back to Republic controlled territory. He would need help from the others to figure out a way to spring this, but it might just work.

He signaled to the others to go over his plan and hope that they can add to it, the only way they are going to escape is if they all work together.

You haven't seen a guard yet, all you've seen is the battle droid. From what you can tell, the prison is buried underground, and all access is controlled from a guard shack at the end of the jail corridor.

"Well, Jeho Diniz, we were on a aka and the whole went dush and I lost this irud due to a furball." He raised his cybernetic arm in the air to show to Jeho. He relayed more about the past battle, but noticed one thing. He was slipping Mandalorian phrases due to Jeho speaking it earlier. He had to ask, "So, I guess you know how to jorhaa'ir Mando, picked that up on your travels or a native speaker?" If anything, he would try and gather as much information about him and this place. He knows he cannot know everything about this place and if he can glean information from his fellow prisoner. All the better.

"Oh, I'm a native speaker. Been speaking it since I was a adiik back on Concordia. Been out here for a few years now that the war began, but looking forward to going back home to Mandolore one day."

He looks at you all with a weird questioning look on his face. "So you boys know some of the ways of Mandalore, where do you olaror from? I've been out of the loop on this godforsaken rangir of a planet for far too long."

Twangs smirks as he helps Firebeacon back to his feet, "We ever get out of here, you'll be seeing a lot more of this mug." He rubbed his jaw, frowning at the stubble. The Arkanian genes in his template had inordinately slow facial hair growth... it had taken him the better part of a year just to grow his handlebar mustache, if he already had some stubble, that meant they'd been here at least a month.

He looks to his brothers, nodding at Scar, "we've been MIA for at least a month, the Republic would have written is off by now, so if we're gonna get out of here, we're doing it ourselves because there's no cavalry coming."

He started casing the cell, first looking for any items that weren't bolted down or even better, pocketable. He checks under every cot, then scans the cell block itself, content to let the others chat up their cellmate.

When the others have quieted down, he cups his hands together and ups the gain on his new ears, listening to the walls and floor at regular intervals for something, anything. Were they on a ship? In a tower in atmo? The hum of the engines or the whistle of the rain might give it away...

[Haven't updated the sheet yet and need to see what the ears do, but I'm at work on my phone and can't roll.]

The cell doesn't really have much in it. In one corner you find a bunch of old cigarette butts.

As you're searching the corner for anything more interesting, the prisoner chuckles at you again and tosses a butt in your direction that lands on the pile. "Looking for anything in particular? I've looked as well. This escape is going to be more complex than shivs in the guard's stomachs at midnight." He chuckles at you again. "Lets talk some more when we lunch is served, you'll understand then."

Using his new super ears, Fuzz is able to feel the soft raindrops fall on the flat roof above. He also feels the slow lumbering of the lava flows outside, and the loud humm of machinery somewhere in the complex as well. It almost sounds like a factory.

A loud bell is heard, and the cell door opens. The entire corridor of cell doors open. And a large number of prisoners, most of them either Human or Falleen, make their way out the cells and away from the before mentioned guard shack. Outdoors, the harsh orange light penetrates your skulls, and you can now see why the Mando was laughing at you.

You're in a complex situated between two large lava flows. There are a number of machines extracting minerals from those flows, but nothing that looks like a land bridge connecting the complex to the mainland. "As you can see, we're not in the best location for a prison break. I've been trying to get out of here for months, and while I've killed a fair number of guards, I haven't gotten farther than the lava flows yet. Ah, here's the loaf." he says as he grabs a tray and a nasty looking loaf is presented on his plate.

As you walk and find a table nearby to sit at, the Mando joins you. You can tell the other prisoners are trying their best to stay away from you, and from him. "Anyways, I've run out of ideas on how to escape. I know my comrades are still on planet and looking for me, but can't figure out how to get a message to them or anything. You boys have any ideas?"

Firebeacon picked at the loaf of grains and fried matter, too irritated to eat. "Alright," he said, leaning in and looking around the mess area, "if this place is land- uh...lava-locked, then that means they need regular resupply via speeder or aircraft. Maybe there's a way to commandeer a ride." He pointed towards their mysterious new friend, "if what you say is true, why aren't you sitting in a solitary cell for attempting to escape? Are they that confident in the hostile terrain?"

Mustache Ride

"Oh sure, they get a speeder drop of supplies via a speeder. The next one should show up in a few hours. I've thought about forcing my way on the speeder, but I'm pretty sure the Skakoans would overpower just little ol me if I tried to take it. And then there's the question of where to go once we have the speeder. There's no spaceport, just a station in orbit, and our choices for bases are the Skakoan's manufacturing facility, or the Black Sun facility on the other side of the Lava river. The Black Sun might take us in, but the big worry isn't them, its the Kyr'tsad." Jeho shudders a little at the mention of the Kyr'tsad.

The food was miserable, but if he had to get out of here. Scar would need his full strength. He chowed it down as quickly as possible to not let the bad taste sit in his mouth for too long. He hated it. He had no idea who Black Sun was, but if it was a chance to get out. He would take it. Scar asked the Mando, "So, Deathwatch is still around? I thought they all disbanded. Seems strange. They working for the Confeds now?" He knew what the organization was, but surprised they were still around.

He paused for a moment to further think about plans for escaping, the speeder sounded like the best idea especially with a neutral base they could stay and get out. Still, there had to be more places.

"The CID? No, they're not really working for the CID. Uh, I guess you could say I was working for the confeds when I got myself in a bit of trouble with Death Watch. As you may know, New Mandalore is completely neutral in this current Clone Wars. Therefore, I took a simple freighting contract to move some of the rare mined ore here back to Mandalore. Well when I dropped in system, I identified myself as a Mandalorian trader, and this aru'ela ship attacked me not soon after while I was stransiting to the station in orbit to pick up the contracted goods. Most of my crew is then killed pretty quickly, and the CID arrested me for warfare in orbit. I was then sent to this work camp to work off my 'dept' or whatever to these shabuir.

Death Watch is kind of working with some sort of criminal organization calling itself "Black Sun". The CID aren't very fond of them, but can't spare the resources to deal with them on planet at the moment, from what I hear. I've been here a month, and my ship is probably still docked in the station in orbit. If you can help me get to it, I'll take you wherever you want me to.

He shoves the awful loaf in his mouth. "What do you say? You brothers look like you'd be good to have in a fight.

Twangs takes the "food" with a grunt and wolfs it down, trying hard not to avoid coughing it back up. He eyes Firebeacon's leg, frowning, "What I want to know is why go through the trouble of fixing us back up? The Republic can't even manage that a lot of the time. How do we know they didn't plant a bomb in your leg, or in your arm," he glances at Scar, then the creases on his brow deepen, "... or in my head... lot of good an escape would do it they've just built some trackers into us or something... we've gotta be sure before we try, otherwise it could not only compromise our escape, but the Republic. If we ever get back."

"Hah, I'll tell you why they fixed you up. You're to be sent into the mines. They need people to go down into that hellish place and extract the minerals from the lavarock. Its why you're on this planet. This isn't a prison, per say. Its a work camp. You're here to work until you die."

He waves his arms at the others mindlessly eating their food around you. "Why do you think all these people look like they've walked out of the center of a sun? They are all done for. Its only the newcomers like us that still have our lives to live. These guys, they're dead to the world. They live for the scarce minutes away from the mines."

He plops back down and begins to stuff the breadstuff in his face again. "Thats why we've got to get out of here. Down in the mines they take away your humanity. Thats why we need to leave before our shifts start. Help me take the speeder, it'll be coming soon. We can make the rest up as we go along."
