This looks a lot like suffering.
Audio only episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher are available on a feed usually on Tuesday or Wednesday after the Friday they air on TV.

Oh and a lot of people probably get a lot of enjoyment out of all their niche podcasts, but there's a real good reason why a handful of people have posted nothing but "Uhh Yeah Dude /thread."

History: I haven't found any podcast or lecture series to rival the quality of what you get with Hardcore History so keep that in mind.

A History of the World in 100 Objects by the BBC/British Museum kept my attention throughout the entire series.

Norman Centuries and 12 Byzantine Rulers by the same author are excellent if narrowly focused podcasts that feel like epic stories.

There is a lot of love out there for A History of Rome. I found it too dry which was a bit of a disappointment as I really enjoy Classical history and I have the tolerance to get news from Politico podcasts. YMMV

For the interesting and layered history of New York, The Bowery Boys is usually entertaining. The Halloween/Spooky New York episodes are consistently worth the time.

Science:

Unless they are actual scientists/physicians that currently work or have worked in the field, most science reporting/podcasts are poo poo.

For general science the aforementioned podcasts from Nature and Science are good starts. Nature is more accessible to the layman (and edited better).
http://www.nature.com/podcast/
http://www.sciencemag.org/site/multimedia/podcast/

PNAS produces PNAS Science Sessions which are 5-7 minute reports on a single subject.
http://www.pnas.org/site/podcasts/podcasts.xhtml

Omega Tau I have been impressed by. Hosted by two Germans, they spend 1-2 hours on a single subject and they go in depth. Subjects range from the Space Shuttle, Self-Driving Cars, high energy neutrinos, viruses, bitcoin, to flying off an aircraft carrier. Highly recommended.

I frequent http://thefpl.us/ for terrible Internet things, specifically the Roy Orbison wrapped in clingfilm episode or the dragon dildo forums. It's like the old Portal of Evil forums in podcast form.

I always thought liberals want to help everyone but Three Olives absolutely unironically hates poor people. Like, 'round them up and fire them into the sun' hates poor people.

I do this technique called a suplex. You probably haven't heard of it, it's pretty obscure.

He's a lot bigger now, not in a fat way but in a "got pretty heavily into PEDs way". Also he's bald.

Nah, one of the many myths of Three Olives. I'm more a liberal quasi-socialist with a dash of a caste system enforced by rigid social structure mixed in kind of guy. All Olives are equal it's just some are more equal than others.

It is a brand name now. Unfortunately it attracts shallow individuals who are at their core followers who are nerviously looking around for a social group to belong to. These individuals are more interested in crowing that they "listen to NPR" rather than actually understanding any of the topics discussed on one of the programs.

It is kind of like short guy syndrome. Some short guys are very insecure about their height; and rather than become accomplished and good at something to boost their confidence they are the obnoxious guy at a bar, always attention seeking and needy.

Brad Williams is an example of a short guy who does not have short guy syndrome.

Because the OP is asking for 'some', so a number of podcast greater than one. Everyone then scrambles to find a good podcast besides Uhh Yeah Dude.

Like My Brother, My Brother and Me, that's a good podcast.

both of dan carlin's podcasts are entertaining, common sense is sometimes loving nuts but i can appreciate it

Yeah I occasionally listen to Common Sense and all I can do is grin. I used to try to analyze Dan (and Ben's) political leanings but they seemed to wildly vary from topic to topic. Then I realized, you just can't pigeon hole this guy. Common Sense is a lot like getting a usually introverted but very passionate history professor liquored up in his favorite bar then watch him slip his chain and letting all the crazy, smart and politically incorrect observations wash over you like a tsunami. I don't agree with most of the views Dan has on Common Sense but I always find it worth listening to because I know I will be getting a educated and well defended position on a topic that I can find literally nowhere else.
