Problem description: Alright, I just built a new PC for work. I'm not an IT guy but I'm as close as it gets around here. I needed to add it to our network. Everything seemed to be going okay, I can get online. Until I tried to access a site with a secure connection, or tried to do windows update. The secure connections websites say my connection isn't secure or some poo poo, and Windows Update looks like this- If I troubleshoot the connection in Windows, this is what it tells me- Now, I had to buy a switch to connect to our router, as I had run out of ports. I thought the switch might be the issue, but I tried connecting the new PC directly to the router and I was still getting the same issues. Also, I have another Windows 8 PC connected to the switch, and am not having this issue. I've been loving with this for 2 days and it's killing us, we need this PC up and running. Attempted fixes: I thought the NIC on the motherboard might be faulty, so I ordered a PCI express add on card. I just installed that this morning and am still getting the same thing. If you manually set the DNS to OpenDNS or Google DNS (latter is 8.8.8.8 - easy to remember), do things work then? To do that: Start -> type "network connections" -> View Network Connections. On the appropriate adapter, right click -> Properties -> double click on Internet Protocol verison 4 (TCP/IPv4), and the field will be at the bottom of the window that pops up. If the system works after doing that, then the problem is with what DNS server is being handed out by the router's DHCP server.
