There is absolutely no reason to get rid of Cutler. It serves no beneficial function. A mid-round draft pick is not worth starting from scratch at QB, unless you spend that 7th on Mariotta or Winston. (Please don't draft Winston.)

As much as people want to pretend his contract is ridiculous, 10 other teams would've signed him to that same contract. It was basically a three year contract that was front-loaded, but allowed for some flexibility in the future. The fact that he turned to poo poo this season isn't all on him, as much as the media would like to pretend it is.

I'm with you, dude, I was just saying when they would fire him if they did.

I don't think they would fire him. They can trade him and not take much of a hit. I believe they said that if he is unloaded to another team by March 10th, the bulk of the guaranteed money will affect the new team. I assume it has something to do with roster bonuses and poo poo. Honestly, I didn't pay attention to the details, because it just doesn't seem like it would happen.

Cutler is the Bears now. I can't imagine a bears offense that isn't be lead by a guy who looks drunk, has a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, with his hands under another man's balls.

If you think he was actually the worst CB in the NFL this year, you haven't been watching football. He has been horribly inconsistent, but he has been pretty good for a first year CB.

I know, but there were mitigating reasons for that, what with the coach not having played in the NFL.

Having said that, Emery is gone and it's the right decision.

How on earth did Fuller grade out that bad? I thought he looked pretty good for a rookie. And anyone wanting to trade Cutler had better hope that Winston drops to 7th, which he won't because the Bucs, Titans, and Jets all need QBs badly.

Being put on an island against Calvin Johnson, Jordy Nelson, et all in a scheme that allowed for free releases I'd imagine.

PFF secondary grades are notoriously lovely. Fuller is wildly inconsistent, but when he owns, he owns.

From NFL.com: "Rapoport reported on NFL AM that potential candidates for the job include 49ers defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, and UCLA head coach Jim Mora."

Cutler is an average quarterback, which is better than most of the current quarterbacks.

I'd be shocked if the Bears traded him off/released him unless they hire a great coach who wants him gone as part of the deal (which won't happen).

The free release is what annoyed me the most. The one game the defense pressed at the line of scrimmage, they looked incredible. The completely manhandled Atlanta. That is part of the reason why I am not convinced there is no talent on defense. I really believe it just wasn't utilized properly.

Aside from the comments about the scheme other posters have just made, Fuller played through multiple injuries throughout the season.

Fangio STRAIGHT up went to them saying I want the job.

It's why he didn't go with Jim.
