This is pretty much textbook "not comfortable with yourself". You may have tricked yourself into thinking you're fine with it all, but if you're worried about how other people are judging you all the time then you are clearly not comfortable with it.

It's weird how people can identify these flaws in themselves like lacking in interests or something like that, and then they just kinda live in spite of it instead of doing anything about it. Or maybe he is just actually comfortable with these issues who knows.
