How many meters are we from the Seneschal and his buddies? If it's too difficult to headshot him this could be a perfect opportunity for some Warp FuckeryTM

It's boring being an assassin if you have to shoot some fucker five times with headshots to kill him.

So if you have your target in sights, they are not a master level enemy, and they are totally unaware(as in they have no idea anyone is around. If they are on alert, but not aware of you, a headshot won't autokill), I'll let a headshot kill them.

Though keep in mind, if you shoot your target, you should try to use a silenced weapon, or you'll likely give away your position.

I have a long las, phone posting so i can't check if it's silenced but it's probably our most accurate weapon.

I don't think a long-las, or any las weapon, can be silenced. Granted the Long-las description does say that it has "little of the signature loud crack of other las weapons". I guess I'll take that to mean that it is somewhat silenced. The description of the silencer (which can go on any SP weapons) indicates that it gives -20 to awareness tests to detect where the shot came from, so I'll say the long las gives a -10.

If you use a low tech weapon that doesn't use propellant, like a throwing knife, crossbow, etc They can only detect where the sound came from if they are within ten meters of the user. Do recall your goody bag did come with two autopistols with compact and silenced, as well as an autogun with the modified stock (+2 bonus on half action aim, +4 bonus on full action aim) as well as a silencer. You also got a crossbow as well.

If you use one of the silenced weapons, they will likely get an awareness check to detect where the shot came from, though it will get -30, -20 from the silencer, and -10 because you're in an enclosed space where sound will likely echo, making pinning down the original location more difficult.

So, is someone going to shoot the guy, free the monster, or what?

Not trying to rush. Do you all need more information from me to help decide a course of action?

We can either sneak or bluff our way in, then we'll probably have to blast our way out. Maybe we can make a diversion to help our escape.

I don't know if we can do this without having to go loud at some point.

Steal a bunch of uniforms, forge papers to transfer the object, walk out the front door. Or we could pretend to be an inquisitor and retinue, but do a bad enough job that the enemy realise we're fakes and come after us.

While building a paper-mache model of an ork to frighten the Arbites away isn't the worst possible plan, let's call it...plan C, for the moment.

It'd be nice if we could find out how the Bad Dude plans to do it, then just pretend we're his goons and just redirect the delivery to our own warehouse. Surely someone at the arbites precinct is in on it - if we can find out who, maybe we can get them to spill.

We could always just stake out the warehouse and wait for someone to try to move it, then kill them all and steal their vehicle.

This could work, you might not have to blast your way out, but you could also try for a diversion to draw folks away. (holy poo poo this and Rogue crusade are becoming the same game)

The potential problem is if an arbites inside is dirty and tries to move the thing, they could make it look official and get an arbites escort.

The other potential problem is you don't know if your Alpha Legionare might consider it too risky and call the whole thing a wash. Now if someone else takes all the risk for him, he might deal with that group directly.

I'm gonna regret suggesting this, but would a rogue psyker going on a rampage nearby (ie my character blasting people with hallucination and generally putting on a scary but nonlethal lightshow) draw in enough Arbites for the rest of the team to bluff their way past the front door and steal the thing unopposed? Obviously I'd need some kind of escape route, but it would certainly be a diversion.

If the Alpha Legionnaire thinks the group that stole the thing has a "rogue" psyker in it, he might also be more likely to mistake us for some friendly cult he can dupe into handing it over.

Hope everything is going OK, Werix!

I figure we can use some time to plan a break in anyway.

So, here's an initial draft plan:

  • Forge documents for the transfer of a prisoner to the local Arbites station
  • Use the credentials of Quixote to get the 'prisoner' and others inside the station
  • Once inside, find the object and evaluate the security
  • arrange a distraction to cover the theft - jailbreak? Riot?
  • abscond with the booty, then set a trap for the Alpha dawg.

Thoughts?

Since most of #acolyte know anyway, my mother is dying. While I have returned home from 11 days helping my father, she could go any day now, and I want to wait until after she has passed before I start updating my games again. I plan to limit my posting to games I am a player in, as they take considerably less input than games I run.

This game is not forgotten, and I hope you all are still here to continue once I begin updating again.

Thanks all for your patience.

Okay, back from funeral stuff. The game thread hasn't had a post in almost two months due to a lot of this. So quick check:

1. Are you all still interested in the game?
2. Are you interested in this particular mission, or should I hand wave all this infiltration stuff for a more "find and kill" kind of mission?

So I have three posts in the game thread, but with only three active players I'm hard pressed to close this game due to lack of interest and posting. I acknowledge that part of that is down to the long periods of not posting due to all the personal poo poo I was going through. If Ryuujin or salsa pull through before the end of the week we'll continue, otherwise I think I'll have to close the game.

Sorry All.
