What are some of your favorite lesser known/cult classic games? There are many good games that just get forgotten or are only really known by a cult following so here's a thread to gush about and share all the games that you think deserve more love.

Here's a few of mine.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective:

Headed by the creator of Phoenix Wright, Ghost Trick is an adventure game about a man named Sissel who awakens finds out that he's just been murdered by a hitman and that's he now a ghost. With no memories of his past Sissel has only one night to stop the shadowy conspiracy that had him killed before he moves on. Along the way he gets help from the likes of Lynne, a plucky but hapless detective, and Missile, a fearlessly loyal Pomeranian. Ghost Trick is an adventure game where the puzzles are your "Ghost Tricks", your ability to possess inanimate objects in order to progress. This is fun and all but the thing that makes the game really stand out is the quality of the writing. The characters are genuinely really likable and the plot has some genuinely surprising twists and turns that stay internally consistent and end on a completely satisfying and conclusive note. If you love adventure games, Ghost Trick is a must play.

Ghost Trick is available on DS and iOS.

Alpha Protocol:

AP is a third person shooter RPG made by Obsidian that's one huge love letter to spy fiction. You play as Agent Mike Thorton who's been recruited to the secret American counter-terrorist organization Alpha Protocol to investigate a terrorist attack using high end military weaponry that goes far deeper like all spy stories do. The combat seems bad at first, but AP's a game where you can just break the poo poo out of the game due to how good abilities are and that makes it fun. Stealth and Pistols are usual the go to suggestions, especially the latter. What really makes AP memorable though is its dialogue system and reactivity. You have to know who you are talking to and how to most effectively manipulate them if you want to succeed...or you can the biggest douchebag imaginable and watch everyone hate you in hilarious ways. Characters will react differently to you due to how you approach things and you can miss out on huge bits on characters and the plot due to your choices. It's a truly reactive game and there's a reason why this forum still has a thread on it despite it being five years old.

AP is available for 360, PS3, and PC. It's dirt cheap during Steam sales.

Kentucky Route Zero:

A major caveat with KRZ is that it's episodic and only 3/5 episodes have been released so far and its been slow going, but KRZ is still amazing and is one of the best games I've ever played and its gotten better with each episode. KRZ is an adventure game about Conway, a truck driver for a mom and pop antique store, on his last delivery before the store closes down. The address leads him to the countryside of Kentucky where the locals tell him that he needs to find the Route Zero, a mysterious highway that lies beneath the earth. Conway soon befriends the locals such as mechanic Shannon Marquez and the two brothers, Ezra and Julian, on his journey as they try to unravel the mysteries of the Zero and why the region has fallen on hard times. KRZ is all about the magical realism (There's even a reference to Gabriel Garcia Marquez with the Marquez family) and it fuses it with Americana and it really manages to make a really interesting and engaging setting. The writing is also really good, you would think it might be pretentious at first glance, but its not at all, its genuinely well crafted. Gameplay mainly consists of roleplaying and exploration; you shape the character's backstories and personalities through choices and there a lot of easter eggs to find in your exploration of the backroads of Kentucky. The game is atmospheric as hell in its minimalism. The devs also really know how to frame a level and the viewpoints of areas can be quite creative. It also has a great soundtrack.

Kentucky Route Zero is available on PC, either from Humble Store, Steam, or GOG. You can also play some free side-stories on the KRZ website.
