Cold white light once again seared the chamber as a storm of magical energies exploded outwards from the mechanika, allowing the monster to restore it's reserved for one final struggle.

Almost there, she wasn't going to let it get away this time, Shay clears her head and ignores the pounding in her skull as she summons up whatever mojo she has left and flings it anything in her way.

I was going to zap the ripper but I can't actually hit tn 19. I'm going to just fire 2 arcantrix bolts (assuming i pass the fatigue test) at anything near me that I can hit. Attack mod is +5, POW is +12. If nothing else I shoot the node so it can't recharge.

It was Naal who struck the final blow, a spinning, deadly cut delivered as he sailed through the air above the metal wolf's head, screaming black blade cleaving it in twain as Naal sailed into the burning magical energies at it's back. It did little more than tingle. The decapitated abomination fell to the metal catwalk, balck ichor dripping to the ground below, utterly unmoving.

Unpeturbed by the loss of their leader, the Immortals assaulted the adventurers even as they faded back into the ether, leaving only bloody wounds behind as a sign of their displeasure. The adventures were left again in darkness and silence, save for the pale light and distant buzzing of the electrikal.



[Boss defeated! All party members gain 3 Feat Point, [PHY] Vitality points, and 6 XP!]

Though they had been struggling within it for the last several minutes, the adventurers finally had the opportunity to actually see the power chamber. The cavernous room was dominated by four vast runed spheres, serviced by catwalks and topped with thick wires running up into the darkness far above. Glowing power nodes of some crystalline substance dotted the spheres at regular intervals, pulsing with uneven light. Great runic circles lined the floor shimmering, glowing, and fading, seemingly at random, leaving only a crackling and the scent of ozone where they ignited. At the center of the room lay two large terminals, the arcane controls of this great chamber, apparently still glowing with life. Along the several of the catwalks precarious-looking ladders stretched up an indeterminate distance. Finally, as Blythe's medical attention came to an end, they saw the massive, sparking wreck that was Ripper, silent, for now.

Shay stands for a few moments, staring dumbly at the rest of the battle scene. She then calmly walks up to what remains of the ripper and hits it with the arcane maul over and over while periodically blasting it until its as close to utterly obliterated as its going to get. That done, she retrieves the slugger and looks around the room. "I don't want to have to put help put that thing down again. Third time is NOT the charm." Shay pauses and looks around. "Not TOO much has changed. Lets see here..."

The fight now concluded, Naal slumps down while the techheads get to work on something stupid. He passed the time while catching his breath watching Shay pound on the Ripper's corpse.

"Eh" he offers halfheartedly, "coulda been something worth something in that wreck."

After Shay moves on Naal meanders over to the Ripper corpse and looks it over for anything of note or at least something that could be taken as a trophy.

The flickering light of the crystal monitor bleached Biggy's green flesh bone white as he stared into the thing, arcane schematics and unknowable characters shifting across the translucent pane. To any normal engineer, the situation would have been hopeless, but Biggy taught himself to fix mechanika before he was taught to read; something like this wouldn't be a problem for someone as skilled as he.

One of the large spheres that could only be generators of some kind was blown, sending out erratic bursts of power that was disrupting the magical flow in the network of wires above. They'd have to figure out how to crack their way into the sphere, and then head up into the precarious wires above and flush the system. That should restore the power flow.

Shay knew that the wires that webbed the top of the power chamber were dangerous. More than one assistant got fried by the high energy lines up there, or worse, fell to their deaths on the hard floor of the chamber far below. As for the generator, the old team never had to repair them to begin with; no telling how difficult that would be.

The remains of Ripper groaned and popped as Naal rended the strange metal cylinder from it. He wasn't exactly sure why the thing caught his eye; it looked like any other piece of mechanika, save for it's strangely organic shape. The removed part leaked a iridescent blue fluid that sparked as it struck the ground and tingled as it touched the skin. Maybe the alchemist could make something of it. Naal gave the great mechanika wolf a heavy punch for good measure, and took the steel fang it removed with him.

"Good point." Naal tucks the piece away for now and meanders over to wherever the majority of the group is congregating in hopes that they'd be moving out soon. No telling when more of those shadow things would re-appear.

Eventually, after someone bothers to patch him up, Blythe wakes back up. He stifles a groan of pain and goes about checking over his body. Even the palpable eeriness could be forgotten in the blessed dry coolness of the temple after weeks of camping in the hellish jungle, and the incessant humming of the power chamber a lovely lullaby compared to the howls and screams of wild beasts. They day had been long and strange, and sleep came easy to the adventurers, even if the night was filled with unsettling dreams of the bandaged horrors that lurked beyond the Gate. When the adventurers awoke, was it morning? Who could tell deep under the cold stone of the temple? Little had changed in the night, but the wreckage of Ripper was seeming alarmingly more intact than they had left it.

The wolfen warjack was regenerating, that much was certain, and while Blythe could make out no actually organic components to the creature, it was certainly designed after an organism, completely with digestive organs that could only be vestigial in a machine. Something had to be sending the body signals about the damage sustained and how to repair it; if the beast was acting on a passive system it would be spewing ichor everywhere in it's current state.

Shay had heard of there sorts of things back in Cygnar, little more than conspiracy theories of a machine cult that was pursued by the Inquisition. Apparently, they were able to harness the natural energies of the world as a free power source, and distribute it outwards by induction using special apparati. Shay had always assumed such things were nonsense, until she and her team had investigated the nodes. When working correctly, these nodes could power the entire temple complex, and perhaps far more. At the moment, however they were flickering their creepy blue light, clearly thrown out of sync when that barbarian of a Khadoran knocked out the power. They'd have to do a power fluff in order to restore them, and if the gobber was right, they'd have to get the last generator back online before they could even do that.

Biggy put the finishing touches on the mechaniwolf torture device, and already he could feel his skin tingle with the current being output. Yes, this would do nicely as a replacement core, if only they could get into the generator sphere...

Naal observed the goings-on with detachment. The mind of a tinker was foreign to him. Sure, there was a use for brainiacs from time to time but no book learning could ever replace real life skills for defending yourself and surviving.

After a bit Naal launches into an animated and seemingly one-sided debate with his sword on the best use of one of the fangs he procured from the beast before starting in on carving out a small hole in one.
