I'll be happy if chet takes it out even if I didn't vote for him, still a talented passionate dude. They said he was in the ABC studio in Japan. Maybe it was a joke, I dunno what facilites the ABC has in Japan.

I actually don't mind uptown funk

Why do people hate Bruno Mars, he's pretty serviceable funky pop music? I don't get what the hierarchy of pop is, why is Chet Faker or Sia allowed but others aren't?

I don't know half of these songs, maybe I've been more pro-active in my attempts to actually switch station when something I don't like comes on, which has definitely happened a lot more often this year than the last couple (I remember a few years ago when I disliked so much of what they were played I actually tolerated commercial radio for extended periods). Also I like Uptown Funk too...

Okay saying "Imma let you finish that snag" was better than actually playing the first few seconds of Taylor Swift as a joke.

Jumpingmanjim posted:Did any good music come out in 2014? Yes quite a bit did. Not a lot of it was popular with the youth of australia, which is fine, because they settled for a bunch of australian acts instead so I think that's still a win.

Hahaha the house next to a mate's place stopped the number one shortly after it started and turned on some hip-hop markgreyam fucked around with this message at 10:13 on Jan 26, 2015 |

Only thing I got in was at the Sex Number (69. The Smith Street Band - Surrender) so that's something. Looking at the list I have no idea what most of this stuff is. I may not be "with it" anymore.

I actually like Bruno Mars okay but I find Uptown Funk dreadfully dull. The sound is as generic a 'funk' sound I can imagine, and it never really takes off or gets me into it at all, just keeps droning on. Decent for dancing to but there are better ones for that, and I'd never put it on just to listen to it. Anyway, lots of stuff I haven't heard on that list so it'll be interesting to hear exactly how behind the times I am nowadays when I check poo poo out.

Whenever people mention how good uptown funk is I show them Zapp/Roger (specifically doo wa ditty), because that song just completely apes Roger Troutman's style and songwriting tricks and makes it sound, as you said, as "generic funk" as possible.
