Problem description: My laptop came with Windows 8 pre-installed and I hated it, so I downloaded Ubuntu 14.04. Ever since I've been on Ubuntu my wifi connection will all of a sudden stop working even though it will say I'm connected. I have to disconnect and reconnect and it will work again for about 30 minutes before repeating the same issue. Attempted fixes: I've googled my issue and have followed the instructions to enter certain instructions into the terminal to fix the issue but none of them have worked. In the comments section of all the things I've tried are filled with other people saying it didn't fix the issue either. Recent changes: Just installing Ubuntu has made this issue arise. Windows 8 is no longer installed. -- Operating system: Ubuntu 14.04, 64 Bit System specs: id: description: Notebook product: HP 2000 Notebook PC (F8Q68UA#ABA) vendor: Hewlett-Packard version: 097A130002405E00000620100 serial: 5CG4031D89 width: 64 bits capabilities: smbios-2.8 dmi-2.8 vsyscall32 configuration: boot = normal chassis = notebook family = 103C_5335KV G=N L=CON B=HP S=PRE X=MIN sku = F8Q68UA#ABA uuid = 997D8B45-A103-049F-676F-6DA4CF242999 id: network description: Ethernet interface product: RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller vendor: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0 logical name: eth0 version: 05 serial: a0:1d:48:fe:d3:0c size: 10Mbit/s capacity: 100Mbit/s width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress msix vpd bus_master cap_list ethernet physical tp mii 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd autonegotiation configuration: autonegotiation = on broadcast = yes driver = r8169 driverversion = 2.3LK-NAPI duplex = half firmware = rtl_nic/rtl8105e-1.fw latency = 0 link = no multicast = yes port = MII speed = 10Mbit/s resources: irq : 76 ioport : 3000(size=256) memory : f0004000-f0004fff memory : f0000000-f0003fff Location: United States I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes
