I had a moment today where I caught myself doing something that probably would have gotten me fired. No one saw it and I fixed it right away. It made me think that a lot of people probably have similar stories and some of them might be funny. What happened to me was pretty simple. I write a lot of e-mails at work directly to customers, probably 20-30 a day at the bare minimum. I make sure I proofread them because I'm poo poo at typing. I wrote an email to a Mike, proofread the body twice then moused up to send. Just as I was about to click send a typo caught my eye. I missed the 'm" key for Mike. Instead I accidentally hit the one above m and to the right. ... ... Yeah. That wouldn't have been great.

I have to remind myself to not watch porn on the company laptop in the hotel like...all the time. Even got unlimited data on sprint on an iPhone six plus to maximize and ease my viewing capabilities.

Eifert Posting posted:Instead I accidentally hit the one above m and to the right. Fired for calling him Like? Is this a European keyboard? I suppose that would make sense then, which in that case if you happen to come in contact with a lot of Mike's through your business, I'd advise you get a US keyboard to save yourself in the future. I have no story to offer, I work in a family business.

I click on NSFW poo poo accidentally or absent-mindedly all the time. Big-rear end titty .gif on the front page of IMGUR? Better check it out - Oh wait poo poo! Haven't been fired in 5 years (knocks on wood) of doing so. I'm guessing most companies just keep track of your violations so they can more easily fire you if they need to. I doubt I'll ever get canned for it unless I spent a quality 15 minute Incognito session on company time.

I was about 6 month in, working as a teller at a credit union, small, about 5 branches. When I was bored I would explore the network storage drive, finding pictures of cute coworkers from last year's halloween party and such. Well one time I found a folder with HR info in it, such as all of the name/address/phone number/social security numbers of the employees in the 401k plan. Everyone, from teller up to CEO. I thought "there must be restrictions that it wouldn't let me copy this to the PC I was using" So I tried, it took awhile but it copied to my PC. Then the IT department did a remote access to my PC, where it takes over the mouse and clicks around. I furiously move the mouse around to try and take control back. I regain control and I delete the folder. I have a sinking feeling all day and the next day. I really needed this job. About a week later there is a company wide email "don't access anything on the network drive that doesn't concern your job." Another week after that and most of the folders became private.
