the best parts of the edge are how the black guy gets eaten by (?) his cousin and how once anthony hopkins and alec baldwin kill the grizzly they reveal how they both are professional tanners and haberdashers by in the next scene wearing cozy suits of grizzly fur.

That movie was OK but the line at the end was total cornball show

i really liked it but i think it was a scenery, music, survival coolness, hopkins baldwin grizzly murder, elle macpherson erect nipple thing. its pretty cookie cuter otgerwise and baldwin trying to kill him in the end was a stretch.

I'm surprised at all the negativity toward the wolf of wall street. I liked it in the same way as scorcese's other similar films in that jordan belfort was basically portrayed the same way as a henry hill or jake lamotta. As in the meteoric rise and eventual self destruction of lovely but interesting people.

I liked how you kind of figure out Belfort's narration is complete bullshit.

movies started sucking poo poo when the spectacle portion of filmmaking became more important than the acting portion. This seemed to happen somewhere around the mid-late 00s. before then there was a pretty drat good mix of high budget special effects/cgi and drat good acting. and even if the acting wasn't high quality there was still a lot of importance placed on the human element. now it just seems like you're supposed to look at the pretty effects and little else. unfortunately for you and me the dumb bitch rear end masses absolutely eat that poo poo up which is why all these CGI monstrosities continue to break box office records one after the other.

I bet you could find someone who would agree with this statement no matter which decade you used.

I think this started with the Matrix sequels. Directors who grew up playing Nintendo games where the whole backstory is told in the manual, but never referenced in the game itself, expected us to care about no-name Mcgee, the gruff, generic exo-suit Soldier and Blonde Special Teen who was apparently from the cartoon "mid-quels" who finally got his chance to fight, and put so much emphasis on their scenes, and absolutely no emphasis on anything about their characters in the movie itself.

Still plenty of good movies but big budget action has really suffered for a) having to tone down the violence so as to sell to china and children, and b)just having weak low impact dialogue instead of snappy one liners and over the top cheese. The robocop remake is probably the best example of this. It was actually a pretty good take on modernising robocop thematically and almost explored some interesting areas, but totally whiffed on every opportunity for memorable dialogue in favour of the blandest line delivery possible.

Yup. Fury Road is better than 2. I wouldn't quite go so far as to say it is better than 1, though.

No it definitely isn't.
