Queens is pretty suave. Seen em live three times, met Josh and the rest after a show in 2007 in Eugene, Oregon. Very chill likable guy who I'd totally have a beer with. Speaking of, I DID have a beer with Jesse before an EODM show. Very cool guy who seriously loves his fans. And after the show me and some others trawled around Portland with Dave Catching, who give off some serious aspie vibes

on the live album josh homme spends five minutes singling out a guy and calling him cock smoker (for throwing a beer can at him or something?) so basically always throw beer cans at josh homme but yeah josh homme/qotsa are pretty great (he's bad at gay though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbf_nFtA8YQ)

He got in some trouble for calling someone at a concert a fag or something, so it seems like he's been trying to make it look like he's not a homophobe recently. Which is fair enough, but he used this line that was like "of course i'm not a homophobe, I'm in a band called Queens of the Stone Age."

This song caps off the greatest concept album of our new millennium, that being perhaps the last of its kind. It is one of the best rock songs ever recorded- although you might hear this and not think so, it is only because you are not actually listening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9zeb5BfpgE

I love QOTSA but I feel like they might have plateau'd, I wasn't a big fan of Like Clockwork and it feels like with every release since sftd they've been steadily been edging towards a more homogeneous radio rock sound. They could turn it around but I could also see them becoming Foo Fighters 2.0 in the next few years

this_is_hard posted:Like Clockwork owned actually and was way better than Era Vulgaris Like Clockwork wasn't a bad album but I do think it was over-produced and had some of the heavier edges smoothed out to the detriment of the songs. I sometimes worry that as they get bigger with each release they'll slowly morph into a bland AOR band but hopefully Josh still has something left in the tank.

I bought their first album in CD form and every song was the same. it was in my car when it was towed to the scrapyard where it belonged. The CD , I mean.
I saw them live with NIN in Melbourne last year. That was a hell of a show.
Ugh man that must have been great. Speaking of great shows, Marilyn Manson did an AMA about a week ago where he entertained the idea of a Smashing Pumpkins + Marilyn Manson tour contigent on the rumor that Chamberlain comes back as drummer for SP. Now that would be a hell of a show.
