I thought of this thread again recently and while I already submitted one, I have to also submit this because I heard this song when I was like 6 or 7 (so in like 1991) and I never knew what it was, and I had recorded it on tape and loved it but one time a friend was over and convinced me to record some Janet Jackson song off the radio over it and I was immediately like WHAT HAVE I DONE because I couldn't listen to this song anymore and since it had no words and I couldn't hum for poo poo I couldn't relate to anyone at all what the song was and no one could tell me what it was.

Then many many years later I saw Beverly Hills Cop and I was like THAT'S IT

A great 80s tune

Same sort of thing happened to me! When I was little, every weekday morning, my parents would have the radio on to CBC local news (:canada:) and their theme song was this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WMm-MaAD8I

Years and years later, I'm at home, and I finally decide to check out Fletch on Netflix after hearing about it for years. Well, holy poo poo, I was kind of blown away when this started playing, since this was literally the soundtrack to every morning from the age of 3 to about 12.

This will always be better than Axel F, in my mind and heart.

it's definitely not the same kind of 80s as the rest of the thread, i like it though, it's funky and upbeat. maybe i'm just a music peasant with poor taste.

🚣RowboatMan: ❄️Freezing time🕰️ is an old P.I. 🥧trick...

Hey, anyone remember The Wizard, and the best goddamn song from it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R6WIbx8ysE

Real Life, the band who did the song, only had a moderate hit with it. Then they re-did the song again in '89. Kind of weird. Way to hang on to that one-hit, guys.

Also, their drummer looks like a goober. Well, they all look like goobers, but the drummer mostly.

EDIT: Actually, skip that video, just watch this instead, it's way better.

This is the best kitchen ever.
Haydn's Paris Symphonies written in 1785 and performed over the rest of the decade are one of the best sets of 80s tunes. They are wonderful examples of the sonata form and in my mind have a delicacy and subtlety that is lacking in the work of his now more popular contemporaries, Mozart and Beethoven.

Can't believe there's all this brit snyth-pop garbage and no one has linked Depeche Mode yet. You all suck.

Also, the band that, through no fault of their own, inadvertently inspired a bunch of mopey 90s grunge bands.

Now have some industrial from one of the godfathers of the genre. This entire concert and everyone in it is my 80s. Yes, the concert is 1990 but the entire set list is from albums released in the 80s.
