I like the speedruns where they actually play the game more or less start to finish, I think it kinda ruins the point when they exploit glitches that let them skip the majority of the content. Granted it can be kind of fun to see those now and again but like the super mario world where they glitch to the credit screen on the first level is imho kind of pointless.

About 4th or 5th grade all of my friends got stopwatches for some reason and decided to speed run our lives, like brushing teeth, eating lunch, even homework and tests, as long as it was a passing grade you just had to be first. This lasted a few weeks before we exhausted ourselves and I realize now that we all should have killed ourselves and we would have truly won.

If a run starts pushing past an hour I start getting bored. Really love the shorter runs, and at the recent SGDQ they had the mercy to relegate most of those longass games to night time. speedrunning is pretty dope, though it can be really loving boring if there's no commentary. so more or less all speedruns are really loving boring cause the guy playing is on his 10,000th run, and quite literally just going through the motions at that point.

The best speedruns are Doom, Fallout, and Wolfenstein 3D speedruns. If it takes longer than 15 minutes to beat it, its a lovely speedrun. Definitely a better reason to watch other people play games than Let's Plays.

I feel like lets plays used to largely be done by people who knew the game inside and out but now in addition to having really boring live commentary because they can't be assed to actually think about what they say and put effort into editing/recording, are people who look like they're struggling more with the game than you would if you picked it up yourself.
