that's nice but that means you won't be hired because the company will think you might want to actually use your vacation time in the future which is a big no-no

I was laid off and unemployed for about 9 months back in 2006-2007.

I pissed and moaned about the indignity of it all, how much of a pain in the rear end finding a new job was and generally made all the right sounds that a person is supposed to make about it.

But it was one of the best times I've ever had. I got in great shape, kept the house immaculate, read a lot of good books and overall enjoyed the poo poo out of it. I loving miss it so much.

Why don't you guys just lie? It's not like they're going to call your previous employer.

And if they do, just have friends pretend to be previous supervisors and you'll be fine.

That's what I plan to do.

The last time I went to subway the employee at the counter asked how I was and I said I was good, it's my day off. He said he didn't like having days off because he got bored and that he preferred to be at Subway.

I used to hang out with this guy bc we where both doing gently caress all, doing odd jobs, scavenging cool trash and driving around.

He couldn't keep with it because it made him mad apparently, dude had a gf bringing money and a cool apartment too.

Turned out to be a retard later, working a dead end job for years. gg mate

There is a quote and I can't remember it exactly or who said it and my google skills fail me, but the gist was:

Sitting around doing nothing is only fun when there is something else you SHOULD be doing.

I.E. being unemployed sucks because you're just sitting around doing gently caress all. But getting time off when others are working, or you SHOULD be working is actually time off and is far more rewarding.

I used a temp agency once and it was pretty terrible. They don't tell you anything about the job other than where the building it is, but not the suite number or who to contact. I ended up grading PARCC test for roughly three months for Pearson Education. A place where we were on controlled 15 minute breaks twice a day and expected to read 500 seventh grade papers a day. It was in a hollowed out floor of a building where we sat at fold out tables and used laptops.

A girl pulled out her phone and the main HR person screamed at her to "make an example" in front of a floor of 300 people. Yeah I am really sure that girl was going to take pictures of your lovely testing criteria. There were people grading from at home yet we were not supposed to have phones out for security reasons.

it's like a glimpse into being well to do, you no longer have a schedule, you wake up whenever you feel like it and pursue whatever life has to give that day - you get paid just enough to maintain your lifestyle and at the end of it you wonder why anyone would ever want to go to work - they should call it funemployment

It's something I would love to do to be honest. The only issue is that there is only a once per month open mic in my city and its rather out of the way for me due to being unemployed. But I have been thinking lately that I should just start funneling all my (highly limited) funds into making it happen instead of all the other poo poo I do. And I know I am not going to be paid for any of it until I am like 2 years in, but its getting to the stage where I am like well if I just did this from the start I could be doing that for money right now.
