 The type 1, 47mm Anti-tank gun was the primary anti-tank weapon of the Japanese army from 1941 on. As with a lot of Japanese equipment it was a solid and capable design when first introduced but it was quickly obsoleted as tanks became heavier and armor protection improved throughout the war. Losses are high, looks like a base force and maybe a Marine CD unit. Why they continued on is beyond me.    Fairly quiet today if you ignore the drowning Americans.

 Japanese batleships Fuso (foreground) and Yamashiro. With the disastrous loss of a large French surface taskforce to Japanese carrier planes off Rabaul in early 1942 the battleship was suddenly and decisively proved obsolete. They toiled onwards throughout the second world war serving well in anti-aircraft, shore bombardment and escort roles but never regained their primacy as the mighty ruler of the waves. New year new Graphics!   Another BB sighting in the Aleutians, he must be using them to escort in his convoys from Pearl.  AA fights back over the Soviet Union.  Your daily bombardment report on the Trans-Siberian.  Its time! Fifty thousand troops of the first wave are dispatched to land in the Soviet Union.   We will sieze his eastern bases and march west, relieving pressure on the Trans-Siberian and ideally securing the supply lines to Vladivostok once and for all.   The advance up the Burma valley is slow but steady.   Whoops! A resource convoy strays a bit and a very small cargo ship is sunk by Catalinas from Manilla.   Reinforcements arrive at Kalgoorlie. An attack is ordered for next turn.  Not much to report, we pull the KB back towards Fiji for re-arming and refueling.    A relatively quiet day.

I completely forgot about that. My favorite thing in RtW is to build 45,000 ton Richelieus with 16" guns.
