I thought the videos were previously private and that they were accidentally made public, but if you're okay with things, then there's nothing to worry about.

Shame to see this thread wasn't followed by many. Despite it being relatively slow-moving, I've been enjoying LP quite a bit, and thought you did a great job with the presentation. Anyway, though I still need to finish watching the latest videos, thanks for the LP.

I haven't seen the new videos yet, but so far any connection to the Wizard of Oz has been kinda superficial, a few names and a lion character (though to be fair I wasn't expecting much). Regardless, thank you for showing off this game. It was an okay ride.

Since I'm subscribed to Niggurath on YouTube I have the latest news on his work Thanks for the LP, I've heard of this game somewhere, but never tried it - you always bring some obscure titles to the front.

I've been enjoying watching the LP, mostly thanks to your commentary. It really more than made up for the rather samey gameplay (juggle to unleash moves, repeat until victory) that the game seemed to have up until now, though it looks like there're new mechanics introduced now?

Not really. Its do the base mechnics better and get a super super that obliterates enemies.

Oh well... Then good thing there's the commentary.

Maybe the evil Atheus was more the analogous connection to the wicked witch and Dorothy being the key to defeating it was meant with that? That would support more of the idea that the gods were the wizard; an alien visitor playing god in a world but with a more malevolent intent. It actually does a fairly good job of taking the original idea and shaking it up, but it does in a poor fashion and it's questionable if any of the above was even their intent. A man can dream though.... Zanzibar Ham posted:I've been enjoying watching the LP, mostly thanks to your commentary. And in the end there's an easier means of getting the elements and that's via the relatively large number of unlockable outfits. I was going to make a video at least showing them off but....effort? But hey, screenshots work too: Yeah....you can dress up the entire team as Robbie the Rabbit from Silent Hill or a character the Japanese only released dating sims Tokimeki Memorial? They made some super odd choices with the costume selections.

Niggurath posted:Also just out of curiosity, is the bonus finale banner understandable in the sense that it's another video because I really don't want people to miss that video. Yes, it comes off as an extra video just fine. Also thanks for the LP, it's been very fun to watch especially considering the story was like watching a shounen anime mixed with toku nonsense. The OZ Rangers bit was amazing.

Thanks, Niggurath - I had fun watching it, and definitely wouldn't be able to get far playing it. I think Dorothy is saying "Please God, Please" in her level 1 deathblow. Her Toto costume plus the basket of goodies makes me think of little Red Riding Hood, too.

Argh, and once again I find myself falling behind in your LPs because I keep forgetting to check the subforum instead of the things I already have bookmarked. Also, I have no idea how you find this weird obscure stuff, but it's kind of amazing. I'm only a few videos in so far, but this game seems interesting but full of really strange decisions. The least important to gameplay but one that is probably bugging me the most is the decision to sometimes not have portraits in text boxes. I can't really determine why they would do that, instead of just leave the portrait in, but it's making the rest of the text box look really strangely spaced and also bugging me because they had so many nice portraits to pick from! Why didn't they just pick one? I feel like it's annoying enough that it's probably been mentioned before now, too. Leon especially makes some good faces. Also, Fiel's reactions to Toto having wings just felt strange. Like, with a cat that weird-hellspawn-ish looking, I don't think him randomly sprouting wings and getting a super manly voice would even be that surprising. I'll give him the turning-into-a-sword bit, though. The character artist for this game does some neat work, though -- they worked on the Suikoden series, which is one of my favorite game series'. I recognized the style when the first text bubble of the game came up. The style is a little different, and the outfits are way more anime, but I can still see some resemblance in Fiel's second outfit to some Suikoden characters. It's interesting to see how over-the-top these designs are compared to the pretty sane designs of the Suikoden series. Apparently the musician is shared between the two games, too. And speaking of Suikoden, that dog costume is a nod to the character Kogoro from Suikoden III! He's a dog. In theory. Or some kind of hellspawn or something. Anyway, I'm still watching them, but just wanted to thank you for this. I'm enjoying it a lot so far, and sad I missed it. Gonna keep watching the videos over the course of the holiday.

I wouldn't worry about having missed it, as long as you can enjoy it at some point. And yeah, I think someone did mention it previously and what makes it even more annoying is that it seems like maybe they intended to have voice overs during the long bits of dialogue...but they didn't? Well at least for maybe two extra chapters which makes it just seem even more strange.

I finally got around to watching the last three videos, and let me tell you, that bonus video with the sentai thing was amazing. They put so much effort into it. You could tell they were all having fun.

And yeah, it's weird to me that in the bonus chapters they did VO's for the text dialogue but not anywhere else in the game. I think the game would have been at least 20% better with that.
