i want to try a cool idea i had. modern was conceived as a format that would avoid the reserved list, but cut out a bunch of reprintable sets. lets play a format with all standard legal formats from mercadian masques forward! legal sets: masques block invasion block odyssey block onslaught block mirrodin lock kamigawa block ravnica block time spiral block lorwyn/shadowmoor block alara block zendikar block scars of mirrodin block innistrad block return to ravnica block theros block tarkir block battle for zendikar block 7th-10th edition m10-m15 magic origins o and also, i like the idea of having both a banned and restricted list. this is what i figured we could start with (i'm power tripping!!): Banned: Mind's Desire Dark Ritual Treasure Cruise Hypergenesis Umezawa's Jitte Skullclamp Dark Depths Rite of Flame Mental Misstep Restricted: Ponder Brainstorm Gush Dig Through Time Sensei's Divining Top Chrome Mox depending on how things shake out i'll mod it every month or two. i'm not really up to run a tournament but i'm always up to throw down on xmage. grab me in #mtgoon!

This is interesting, I always wondered what Modern would be like if it started from Invasion block (which is when most longtime Wizards employees say they finally figured out block design) but this is kind of close.

So I was going to go through all of the "new" sets and see what cards would be interesting to build around or put into current Modern archetypes but that's a lot to go through, so I'll just ask people what they're most interested in seeing played in this new format? I'm curious to see how some Modern all-stars fare with actually good control cards in the format.

since dredge/storm get more tools i'm curious how that will work out. and also how twin will fare, how pod looks in this world, etc. stoneblade seems like an obvious thing that i wasn't sure what to do with. JTMS was on my consideration for a restrict. i thought about DRS but i think there's less pull towards BGx (not 0 pull though) bc there's more combo options and blue options. it's probably on the watchlist (honestly everything unbanned from modern is on the watch list) but i erred on the side of less bans
