lotteries are basically the james randi test it's not for some average schlub to play every week and expect to eventually hit it big in X years, though I guess that still happens sometimes i'm guessing 99% of people who win the lottery are just randomly lucky but I know of at least one case where the person seemingly won on purpose after working at it for several months
