Does it matter what clothes you wear, beyond the realm of things like job interviews and formal events where there is a well established dress code?

If it does matter, what's the appropriate way of determining what you ought to wear in the non-formal situations?

What's wrong with white people having dreadlocked hair? isn't it just a hairstyle?

It's a way of outwardly signaling to others your social, cultural, and economic standing and your willingness to follow or disregard popular norms. You can follow mainstream dress norms if you want to send one kind of signal, counterculture norms if you want to send another, or deliberately defy norms for yet another.

it's up to you op the power is in your hands

People are intensely judgmental based on appearance, dressing to look good is an easy way of garnering more respect. It's not fair but it's just true and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Wear whatever the gently caress you want. Just make sure it fits and figure out what colors look good on you.

Belt matches your shoes, socks match your pants. Check out the fashion thread in YLS.

No second chance to make a first impression. If you look like you don't take yourself seriously, do not be shocked when nobody else does.
