Plex, most simply put, is a personal Netflix for all the video files on your computer. You define a library and Plex will auto detect all the information about each video file using it's metadata. By doing this it helps organize all your poo poo. On top of how intuitive and easy to use it is you can also use Plex with Chromecast or Roku, effectively giving you the option to stream all your media to any screen in your house. Not just TVs, but they also have a app for both iOS and Android. You can watch your media from anywhere in the world if you use their app on your phone or tablet. It's convenient as hell. I am not going to do a whole write up on it or anything because I do not work for Plex and am not their social media bitch. It's free. edit: side note, it has Channels for TV Networks built in, and also has a Trak.tv plugin to scrobble all your poo poo like Last.fm for videos. One of the best features of Plex is that you can friend people and choose what libraries you'd like to share with them. For example, my mother has a Plex account that I am sharing libraries with so she can watch whatever she wants on her iPad at her house. It makes helping old people or showing friends media as simple as possible. So who has an account and wants to be friends? I want to watch all your gay porn.

BTW you can just get a NAS and stream all your media to your computers, TVs, phones, tablets, etc and you don't have to upload all your poo poo to someone else's server.

It's pretty cool to be able to access all your media through a web browser so you can give a link to your friends and they don't have to download a program or anything. I just want voice search for the new Apple TV and then plex will be literally the greatest

Didn't like Plex. The UI fought against me, and the organization of the files was atrocious. Jesus gently caress, just let me organize my poo poo with folders. I don't need whatever arcane poo poo that Plex uses to badly sort my stuff for me. In the end, I just use PS3 media server and tversity. I can stream to my Xbox, ps3 and phone. Not while out and about, but if I'm at some bodies house, I'm probably hanging out with them and watching thier terrible movies instead of my terrible movies.

I was at Costco one day and all of a sudden, nature called. Yelled is more like it. So I high-tailed into the john and there's some sensitive guy changing his little boy's diaper on one of them baby ironin' boards, and don't you know, I slipped on pee-pee and broke two vertebrae which had to be fused together. I'm in constant pain, but by God I got me a $53,000 settlement so now i sit at home all day watching hanna-barbera toons on my raspberry pi/kodi setup e: and i'll be damned if i'm changing to plex on account of Win98 getting paid a nickel for every goon he signs up
