Like the use of vocalizations is great, ranging from wild and strange yipping and yowling to represent the rigors of life in the wild west, and the powerful female vocal to reflect the allure of gold, as desirable as a beautiful woman.

The constant use of horns and brass throughout the film defined the sound of the Western. The range of emotion and the deep connection it all has to the events and locations of the film has yet to be surpassed by any film since.

Go listen to the Ecstasy of Gold, but the whole film's soundtrack is great.
