Why do spirits only choose to communicate to people with no talent or life skills? Like, why can't they tell lawyers or police detectives where to find the evidence or research chemists how to make opiates that don't make you dope sick?

I believe in psychics. It takes a certain level of skill to manipulate people like that, and that can be learned, but more than that it takes a really special level of ethical apathy to exploit them using such lovely methods and take their money. I'm not being sarcastic, it's really quite fascinating. (Unless the psychics actually believe what they're saying, in which case they're just basically ice dealers consuming their own product.) There's a place for them, ecologically speaking. Separating stupid people from their money is...not actually good for humanity as a whole considering who breeds the most, but it still feels right. Like gambling and payday loans. Psychics are doing an essential public service.
