Iirc she got the moderate support with them by saving their planet and then being a swell feudal lord. Their clanchief of clanchiefs was pretty liberal and liked her, but also used her to spearhead some of his own initiatives. I can't believe I remember this garbage.

I actually kind of liked these books, but then again trashy genre books are my guilty pleasure. They were boring in a lot of places, mostly the political poo poo, but I always had a stiffy whenever he autistically described the space battles. FWIW, another sci fi series I really like is Hamilton's Commonwealth. Revelation Space owned too. I will not be ashamed.

Yeah the combat is fun. BUt after the third book it becomes predictable. STKM vs Haven, Haven is shifty space french commies, SKM under the noble and pure Harringtonsee's through their evil ruse and beats them, rinse and repeat. I prefer Uplift by Brin. Yes I prefer a series involving weirdo Dolphins.

I'm ashamed to say I have read some of these. I inherited the first several books from my brother. They are trashy and bad but if you block out all of the politics and rape and celery loving murdercats the space battles are pretty enjoyable. Space Brits vs Space FrancoChina while the giant disfunctional space AmericaEU sits there and does nothing.
