Nope. People were hopped up on "revenge." I was living just outside of the city at the time, media was pretty saturated with the idea that if you didn't support the war you weren't a New Yorker.

If it was, it was almost certainly a back room deal sort of thing. They wouldn't have gotten on Meet the Press, and told them about it
