The first half of the new one is way better than the second half. It starts out as this uniquely well-written and acted movie, for what it is, and then it turns into something on the level of, like, Smokin' Aces, which is still entertaining, don't get me wrong. The scene with the pickup truck looked like pretty bad CGI, and the finale didn't really need a huge explosion. I liked how in the original, the hero goes from scene to scene and solves his problems by either talking to people or beating them to death, no guns or explosives required. It's a pure martial arts movie in that sense. Edit: I like how in the original Dalton's killer move is the throat-rip, whereas in the remake the ultimate winning move in a streetfight is having a knife. you can tell just from the Road House trailer that they touched up the fight fights with CGI and that makes it an immediate no sale for me

I have not thought about "Virgil Texas" in years but had a long and detailed dream recently that I discovered him living in an abandoned school bus behind the kitchen where I work. Very strange Anyway, yeah, the show/energy is very off balance without Matt. It's great to hear from Amber though and the eps where she is on are pretty good. Most of the other guests don't really do it for me.

The club I'd go to in college always (pretty much every night I went there) played the Shep Pettibone remix of Bizarre Love Triangle so I thought that was the "real" song and then when I heard the standard version I was like what the hell is this thin beepy boopy nonsense.
