Honestly a small amount of white noise from large fans is preferable to hearing the high pitched squeal of power supply coils

Building a high performance 100% silent computer is almost impossible, better to stick it in the basement or garage and extending the cables

my pc is quieter than the ac unit running the next room, even while playing games, so i consider it well within the range of acceptable

80mm was quiet compared to the 50/60mm fans on everything from the 486-p3 era.

and even that was probably drowned out by the hard drive noise

A lot of those solutions are going to quickly cook your computer since the chipset expects some sort of ventilation from the CPU fan across the various motherboard heat sinks and hot air is going to build up inside the case if there's no fans to replace it

The only cases I think would actually work are the ones that have heavily perforated tops and bottoms so that you get a decent vertical convection airflow going

just immerse the entire assembly in Fluorinert. no big deal
