The more likely scenario is the just have Jamal Crawford, Darius Miles with rebounds, and Croatian DeShawn Stevenson, and Ibaka and Vucevic are among the worst best two players on a team in the league.

The five-time, five-time, five-time, five-time, five-time NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs are entering their 50th season as a professional franchise, if one includes the time spent as the Dallas Chaparrals in the early days of the ABA. The Spurs are one of, if not the, most dominant team of any sport over the past 20 years, and yet they don't get the admiration their basketball contemporaries get. The primary reason for this is the 'boring' identity placed upon them by those who preferred the splash of players referred to by only one name. The Spurs organization is just fine with that, since they keep winning. This season will be different, though - Tim Duncan, the greatest power forward in basketball history, the man who made the playoffs in all 19 years of his service, all with just one team - quietly retired during the offseason. The move was not unexpected (again, he played for the Spurs for 19 seasons), so moves were made over the past few years to begin to move from the Big Three era to a focus on younger players. 2016-17 will be a transitioning season for San Antonio, but they're going to win another 50 games. Coach - Gregg Popovich One of the greatest NBA coaches of all time, Pop is a man of few words. Will probably tie Phil Jackson's record of 20 consecutive winning seasons coached unless something dramatically awful happens, in which case (as is precedent) the Spurs will grab the #1 overall pick in the draft and being the cycle anew. STARTING LINEUP Center - Pau Gasol Signed for a two-year deal during the offseason, Gasol will be the bridge from Duncan to the future. As he has not played a regular-season game with the Spurs yet, this section is not very long. Power Forward - LaMarcus Aldridge The big free agent signing from last year, Aldridge has molded into the Spurs system of being a team player first and foremost. You could say this is another way of saying 'he didn't score as much as he did in Portland', but when you factor in his minutes being decreased by almost five minutes from one team to the next, it's not as big of an issue as one would suspect. Did not score a signel 3-pointer last year, which is a bit shocking. Aldridge represents one of the two 'present' stars for the Spurs, alongside... Small Forward - Kawhi Leonard TAKE A LOOK AT THESE HANDS! Unquestionably the most important player for the Spurs right now, Leonard is entering the prime of his career, excelling on both offense and defense. In my personal opinion, had the Warriors not won 73 games last year, he'd be the reigning MVP of the league. If there's one player to know going forward in San Antonio, it's Kawaii. Shooting Guard - Danny Green Hits 3-pointers and that's it. Really, that's the only notable thing about Green. Of course, that might just be me missing the forest for the trees considering that the rest of the starting lineup have been All-Stars at least twice and Green's never been invited. Point Guard - Tony Parker The all-time Spurs leader in assists, Parker has said in interviews he wants to play until 2021, which would be his 20th season. If his stats keep up for another five years, Parker will go down as the second-best Spur of all time. With the rise of Aldridge and Leonard, his importance in scoring has gone down significantly. Defensively he's still good enough to be effective against most of the league. EXPECTATIONS Number Six. Barring that, 60+ wins and multiple awards.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd say Danny Green's one of a handful of prototypical 3&D guys, so he's known for a bit more than his shooting (which kinda fell off last year). Also Parker could play 20 more years but he'll still never pass Robinson (who tbh is probably the best Spur ever, but I'm assuming you had Duncan there).

Yeah Danny Green is an exceptionally good defender across a couple different positions. He really, really needs to find his 3 point stroke again though, he took a step back both in how many he took and how many he hit.

It's 2016 in Portland, contrary to popular belief. Although things about Portlandia are still true. 40 years since our last championship, and here's what you need to know: Returning Players: Damian Lillard - The cornerstone of this Trail Blazer team, a natural leader, involved in the community, has a decent rap career. Has an array of sick offensive moves and is improving on defense. Always exciting to watch. Also this: CJ McCollum - 2016 Most Improved Player - A combo-guard with great offensive moves who can score in the lane, from the 3, mid-range J? Done. Does a lot of Player's Tribune postings and wants to be a journalist. Along with Dame, typically gets eaten for lunch on defense by bigger, stronger guards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0tWxG8nUHU&t=8s Al-Farouq Aminu - Defensive specialist, rough handles and has an improving 3-ball. A real glue guy. Probably will be starting/playing at the 4 this season. Ed Davis - Chill as gently caress, blue-collar lunch pail dude. A walking double-double if he gets his minutes. Typically destroys bench units. Allen Crabbe - 2nd round pick who struck it rich in this last free agency, a typical 3 and D guard at 6'6", may play some 3 as well. Mostly plays catch-and-shoot and has a low assist rate. Mason Plumlee - Oh god, a Plumlee, how many of these are there? A Plumlee and a Zeller for EVERY team. Mason has playmaking tendencies, but is a black hole outside of the rim. Rumor is that he is working on a jump shot. Meyers Leonard - 7'1" and plays on the perimeter, let's see if this is the year Meyers finally breaks out and no longer looks lost on the court. Has a great stroke on the 3 and was a member of the 50/40/90 club recently (in small sample sizes). Looks like Justin Bieber. Noah Vonleh - A first-rounder Portland got in the Nicolas Batum trade, still very young and raw. Started a lot of the games last year at PF, but may not get much playtime this year, due to the deep bench. Maurice Harkless - A jack of all trades player with alot of skills in his toolbox, and is steadily improving and young. A reclamation project that landed in Portland for peanuts. Pat Connaughton - End of the bench dude from Notre Dame, was drafted in both baseball and basketball. Luis Montero - trashtalked kobe, raw, never plays. New players: Evan Turner - Portland's "big" free agent signing. Alot of people think he was overpaid, but Turner's ballhandling will allow Lillard and McCollum to play off-ball which they are far more dangerous. That, and who doesn't love a guy who says things like this: "You've gotta respect a 15-percent 3-point shooter. A guy like that is always lethal." Festus Ezeli - A Warriors cast-off, probably going to be broken half the year or will have a career-ending knee injury. Luckily, the contract is short and reasonable. Shabazz Napier - I don't really know anything about this dude. But being on 3 teams in 3 years either means overhyped or just hasn't gotten playtime. Jake Layman (2nd round pick) - Tall, white, yep Dudes that are gone: Chris Kaman - basically albino sasquatch or the most NW player we had. Named his son Barrett and has his own outdoors TV show named "Exploring Kaman". Likes mid-range jumpers and being slow on defense. Gerald Henderson - Now on the 76ers, this guy didn't fit Portland's roster well due to his lack of a consistent 3. Has more of a throwback style and loves to take it to the rack. Cliff Alexander - On the Magic now, lots of upside but basically rode the bench all season. Would have been a first-round pick had he not had eligibility issues. Brian Roberts - 3rd-string PG who won't take you out of the game, and was a last minute trade throw-in at the deadline, he went back to Charlotte. The (important) non-players: Kevin Calabro - Broadcaster - The longtime voice of the Seattle Supersonics (RIP). This is the thing I'm most excited about this season, Portland home broadcasting won't be as homerish or awful. The upgrade from Mike Barrett and Mike Rice should make watching the Portland broadcasts less cringe-worthy. Paul Allen, owner - has a superyacht, historically has meddled with the front office decisions - seems to be letting the cake bake this time and is willing to go into the luxury tax on the current team. Made his money from Microsoft in the beginning. Neil Olshey, GM - Not as cool as our previous GM's which we could make trade monikers like "pritch-slapped" but has done a decent job since coming from the Clippers. Made the best out of the situation, as Portland is not exactly the place that young, hip black millionaires want to go to. Terry Stotts, Head Coach - Basically Rick Carlisle-lite, alot of the game planning and defensive work is very similar to Dallas schemes. Does a fairly decent job of trying to minimize defensive weaknesses or exploit advantages with substitutions.

Portland has been a really fun young team to watch the last couple years. They really lucked out with injuries to other teams and matchups in the playoffs this year so they way overshot expectations but that just means they now have some decent playoff experience which they needed badly. Offensively they are one of the best in the league but inexperience, bad guard defense and very poor rim protection leave their defense much to be desired. I think I remember it being talked about that Stott's system focuses on perimeter defense and denying the 3 ball and that seemed to work fairly well versus the Warriors, they were one of the few teams to beat them in the regular season(It was a pretty good game if I recall). I am personally not that excited about the Evan Turner acquisition but they still managed to keep most of the roster I liked so

New Pistons additions: Beno Udrih: historically a quality backup who drains midrange jumpers. Mostly his signing makes me feel bad for Ray McCallum, who had the third PG spot (second while Jackson is out) until the Heat waived Beno. Mamadou N'Diaye: Going straight to Grand Rapids. Notable for being 7'6" and a former star for the UC Irvine Anteaters. Zot zot bitch.

Ray McCallum is one of those weird cases to me. His rookie year, Malone had to play him 44-48 minutes once Jimmer was waived and the man put up decent stats and looked like a rotation player. But then he turned into a pumpkin for no reason that I can figure out and can't even stick around a team in a D-League capacity.
