I've always wanted to know the name of this movie: I saw it on Showtime in the United States when I was a little kid, sometime between 1982-1986. It was about a guy (man or boy, can't remember), who is trying to smuggle a female android off of Earth (?). She is convinced she is human but he knows she isn't. It all looks like it will work out until she gets in the shower and the water makes her malfunction and die. I just remember watching this cartoon (I'm almost certain it was an anime) and enjoying it until the end which broke my little 7-10 year-old heart. Anyone with a knowledge of old anime know of any movie with this kind of plot?

Well, all I can suggest after a quick Google search is to trawl through Wikipedia's List of Anime Films By Year. Was the movie subbed or dubbed? May have to look a few years before when you saw it - it may of taken a while to cross the sea.
