Problem description: I inherited an old workstation from my job. The person who set it up is long gone, so no one knows what the Administrator password is. I have a profile set up for myself, but it doesn't have Administrator privileges. So getting access to the Administrator profile is what I'm trying to do. Attempted fixes: I've tried a lot of things. Changing anything in User Accounts is restricted. Most notably, I tried this method which was going fine until this step. In Disk Drives, only that Boot (X:) appeared. Not C:. X: didn't have the utilman file. Why wouldn't C: have appeared? Is this computer locked down that hard? I also tried to reset the password this way, which did nothing. Recent changes: No -- Operating system: Windows 7 64 bit System specs: HP Z620 Workstation. Intel Xeon 35-2620 @ 2 Ghz. RAM: 32GB. Video: NVIDIA Quadro K2000 Location: USA I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes

I've had success using this one in the past: https://www.howtogeek.com/96805/how-to-reset-your-windows-password-without-an-install-cd/ http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

Thanks. Tried it with a USB and that didn't work. Assuming blank CDs are still sold, maybe I can go that route next.
