Maldraedior posted:As for Xykon, there's quite a few things that could stand up to him based on the fact that he's Evil and Undead(Soon was doing a drat fine job until everything went all explodey). The problem is he's also a epic Sorceror backed up by a high level Evil Cleric; so it would probably take some concentrated high level Good to stop the two of them. The question then is would Serini have thought to gear Kraagor's Dungeon to stand up to Evil Adventurers or is it just standard high-level dungeon fare? Well, Xykon already cleared out a tower full of Good-aligned monsters and commented on the lack of viable dungeon-runs for Evil-aligned parties, so I don't expect to see the same in the Gate Dungeon. Do we know where the two remaining gates are? According to the archives, one is on the Western Continent and the other is "through 8 human kingdoms", presumably on the Northern continent, neither of which is an easy place to march his hobgoblin army to. I just don't know which is the Illusion one that they're headed to next. Either way, I suspect most of the hobgoblins are going to stay in Azure City.

Well Girard's gate is in a desert which is on the Western Continent I believe. Also Red Cloak already said Xykon wouldn't take the army with him, and is setting them up to be able to survive in Azure City without him.

An Ascendant Councilor could probably put a crimp in his day. Of course, this isn't Eberron, but still. Even moreso if he had a wizard or cleric handy.

Looking through the epic monster list, there are a few things she could have stocked up on that could probably put a hitch in his step. A Shape of Fire, a few leShay's, an Umbral Blot, hell a couple Paragon X's could probably gently caress Xykon and Red Cloak up pretty badly. This has the potential to be very awesome.

It doesn't even have to be epic, really-- just resistant or durable enough to deploy something annoying and/or disabling, like Councilors, until the heroes inevitably arrive.

No, I wholeheartedly approve of the right for Rich to throw in a Banjo storyline once every 400 strips or so. I missed the silly aspects of the strip more than I realized. (God, I feel like one of their forum posters now. Just throw in a Woot and I'm there, ugh.)

I agree that it's good to see silly things again, I just hope it doesn't run it into the ground. The strip usually has a great breadth of humor without just irreverent goofiness but that's because the cast tends to be so broad. With such a focus on smaller groups it feels like we're could be headed for a little too much Elan goofiness if this persists but the plot seems to be moving foward without getting bogged down by it so far.

Best part is the question of 'does he know someone is holding up the puppet' bit. I think he does, Elan is rather aware of plot cliche's like that.

I know Burlew is ill and all but with the characters being split up it's really hard to stay interested in the strip when he's only updating it once or twice a week at random days. It's starting to get like Jane's World in the comic thread in GBS - pages and pages of not much happening very very slowly.

This thread is a pretty good resource for tracking when comics come out, I guess. Number 456 came out a year ago, so we've had 102 strips in the year. Which is a lot better, but still on the bad side of 2 a week.

Yeah, but unlike Dresden, Burlew stated upfront that his illness is what's keeping the comic from a regular schedule, so it's not like he's been slacking or mismanaging his time. And what he has produced has been solid.

I'm amazed by how people can lift and run with Durkon in tow, given that it's probably close to 200+ pounds between dwarf and plate, enough to encumber anyone with a strength score of <23, and cause them to move at the exact same speed as Durkon can move, completely negating the whole reason for picking him up. Just give him Boots of Striding and Springing. I'm reading too much into this. LightWarden fucked around with this message at 18:12 on May 24, 2008 |
