Not to say you didn't look, but come on, man. I looked at the Youtube comments for that video which mentioned the following "the song is by Jason Forrest." I then searched for "jason forrest" on youtube. The first result was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3fa-sjsvno

There were a bunch of tracks on YouTube by a kinda Tom Waits-ish guy, where the backing was mostly electronic noise, and the words were schizo ramblings, of which I mainly recall the word "Frankenstein" being used a lot. Stuff like "The Frankenstein hoarding stomps through the crepuscularity not disregarding..." Any idea how to find that musician's clips?

I can hear this part song perfectly in my head but googling the lyrics brings up absolutely nothing.

"There's never been a day that lasts forever. Just ask the sun, it will rise again forever after"

That part is slowish with just a guitar strumming, but I think the rest of the song is different because I can't remember any of it. I already scrolled through my whole library and nothing caught my eye and I don't want to have to go even slower through it to find this drat thing.

There's a song that I have no idea how it goes but I remember the music video pretty well. I don't think it is mainstream so it is probably from an indy label. It was really well done.

It starts with what looks like a guy walking through like maybe a field. He has a huge wobbly head like on of those mardi gras dancers. She goes to meet this guy with the huge head and I think they flee from the cops. They end up in a barn and she removes his mask. He is a creature from the black lagoon looking monster. They have some lovey type moments and in the end they kiss. He is all dripping like from the teeth like in the movie aliens and she has one of those mini mouth in a mouth that protrudes from her when they kiss.

It is pretty much a video of like forbidden love or something. Oh yeah it is also fairly new but looks old style in the way everyone dresses I think. I know this isn't exactly the music video thread but if anyone knows this video I would appreciate it.

MOURN!
I would very much like to know what the song is in the "Dirty Cowboy" video (as seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw2Q9BdcE9U) and have been coming up with nothing.

So, I asked a friend of mine who is crazy about this era of music. He had this to say about it:

quote:

that song sounds like half the songs i've acquired in the past 2-7 years, but i still don't know what it is. i sure as hell want to know though.

i know of people that would love the challenge/nerd-life-reaffirmation of finding out for you if you need it. screw them though. i would first try to figure out who produced the video at the time. the producer probably worked with the same queer/s to choreograph/cast in this video as he would have done directly in projects before.

once you have a locale and general date, you can try to find out what was commercially available in the record stores of the time, which can be VERY regional. look into who was the buyer for the local dj pool [pools were music libraries, and at 1 time were a common service for professional urban djs]. if it wasn't a dj doing the overall buying, than it was someone who was taking advice from the ruling local dj. local musical preferences definately had an impact on what could be available regionally.

but my guess is, from the overall lack of musical progression, that it's a track that was a fluke recording made by someone outside the genre, or probably a local dj as a filler track. who ever recorded this is literally only turning nobs while a sequencer is running the same loop over and over. it's too simple. it sounds like the cheap pre-hiNRG 80s disco records that came from san fran. they didn't know when to give their synths a rest. and the whole gay-cowboy/wild west poo poo stinks of san fran, as well. that dude's too pretty to be a typical 1970s east coast homo. i'm thinking the music is probably from 81 or 82, but the tv host part is from 1984-86. maybe even later, it didn't feel like a cohesive overall presentaion about how fags love cowboys and disco.

thank u for this oppurtunity to totally nerd out on something most people couldn't be bothered to notice it existence.

Do you think he's right or wrong? Does anyone have the answer? Sigh...

edit: Youtube says it's Otto and the Orbits. Hmm.

Uh, well your friend's right, but only some kind of synthpop historian on crank would seriously do all that detective-level research to find that song, plus there's a chance that might not even be the actual music from the real video. Really your only chance is to ask people and hope someone recognizes it. If you want a higher quality version of it, it would probably be considerably faster and less frustrating to pay an electronic musician to recreate the entire song from scratch for you, it's pretty simple.

Heard this song in subway the other day, and I can't get it out of my head. I know it's from the 70's maybe early 80's for sure. Unfortunately all I caught the other day, and all I remember is the chorus at the end, which doesn't have any identifiable words except for bah, dah. The ending of the song has a male almost discoish chorus. I know it's a long shot, but I'm hoping someone might recognize this.

The end of the song just has a male chorus and goes like this (probably not even spelling it right):

Bahdahdahdah
Dah dah dah dah

Bahdahdahdah
Dah dah dah dah

Bahdahdahdah
Dah dah dah dah
Dah dah dah

Could it be Earth Wind & Fire's "September"? The part I think you're talking about is at 1:05ish. The end is a little different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfLEc09tTjI

This is a bit of an unusual request. It's not a song per se, but a music video I'm looking for. If I remember correctly Cake did a music video where they ended up picking up a homeless guy and getting him a haircut, a manicure and some new clothes; and doing other good charitable things to people on the streets.

I've tried searching and can't find it, nor can I remember the song. Any help would be much obliged.

I'm trying to remember this song I used to hear occasionally on my dad's clock radio and that I also heard once through someone's way-too-loud headphones on the train.

What I know about it is a cheesy 80s type synth line. It's a fairly energetic song. It goes something like:

doo duh deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
doo duh deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee dah duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh doooooooooooooooooooo

There may have been male vocals too. I've tried asking multiple people and it's been driving me crazy for over two years now. I can probably dig up a mic and post a mp3 of me humming it, if necessary.

I'm looking for a song that came and went in the late 90s. All I can really remember is from the music video which I believe had a guy in the back of a van that was outside a club or something watching a bunch of monitors. The song was sort of a mix between rock/electronic/dance or whatever. I know this is pretty vague, but any ideas?

I'm trying to remember a song from when I was in middle school, probably like 2001-2002. It was this "rap" group of 2 guys, and they would trade verses. It was fairly popular, they never reached one-hit wonder status(according to Wikipedia), but I don't remember hearing anything else from them.

I seem to remember a line about some guys chain, something about a guy stealing cars, and one about a girls pantyhose being ripped. If I remember correctly it was around the same time that like Crazy Town and Everlast were "popular".

I can't believe I'm asking for this song, but it's driving me crazy.

This may only be able to be guessed by UK guys, but im wondering the name of the song that has been on 2 adverts fairly recently.

1 advert it was on was a recent Samsung advert, where the narrator talks about impatience or something

and another, a while ago, was on adverts for the newest series of skins.

The best way to describe how it sounds is a really fast dadadadadadadadada part. That's all I know. :(

Alright I need some help with this one. I end up singing it in my head but I never remember to Google it until now, and I can't find anything.

It's a chorus to a song and it is kind of funk-soul maybe with some disco feel? and the hook is something to the effect of "and I believe that love will rule the world"* and it is sung in falsetto with a lush overdubbed harmony.

*I think it's "and I believe that love will rule the world" but Google has made me skeptical and I think I have just plugged in the last part on my own. So I definitely know it is "I believe that love will..."

Thanks guys, hope someone knows.
