So her new song, Bad Romance, is out, and I really dig it. Synth-heavy, and she does this crazy, low "la-la" thing that makes me grin. I was kind of disappointed that she was re-releasing The Fame with a few new tracks rather than gearing up for a whole new album, but honestly, I can't really blame her, and if it means a few new songs to play with, then hey, everyone wins. Because everyone loves Lady Gaga

I've literally listened to 'Bad Romance' about 50 times since I found a decent quality copy. It is magnificent. I've got the record pre-ordered already, I can't wait.

I've got respect for her based solely on the fact she writes everything. And she does a lot of her own synth-work. And its catchy. So gently caress the haters.

Plus a little "well yes I'll just play The Entertainer for some reason" at the end.

Bad Romance is great. Being the first new song she's released since hitting it big, I think you can tell a difference, it's more, I dunno overblown than her previous singles but I definitely like it, great attitude, and the chorus is fantastic.

The wife decided it would be OK to not wake me up at 10 AM yesterday to get tickets as planned. Of course, being the San Francisco show, it sold out in the hour she let me sleep in. We're both really bummed now. Guess we'll have to go with scalpers.

Illandir posted:~unfortunately~ I'm in favor of anything that explores the cultural impact of Lady Gaga in profound ways. I myself am more interested in the narrative of sin and redemption and the exploration of the value of hedonism, but I could certainly lend my thoughts to a draft of such a monograph as you propose. Also I'm sad that her tour isn't coming near me. I'd definitely take a weekend off to see it if it were possible.

I like some of her songs especially the ones produced by RedOne and I don't think she gets enough credit for her singing ability. Too many people who buy into the hermaphrodite rumor don't realize that they are being trolled, possibly by Gaga herself.

I mean, she's obviously a real musician, she can play and sing quite well. She could be quite popular without the image bullshit, but whoever is handling her PR resorts to it anyway. I admire that she's a pop star with at least some talent, but come one, the stupid image, typical pop beats and songs about poker and stuff, there's no need for it, it's like music industry trans fat. But we all know people love their fat.

I feel the same way about Katy Perry, she has a great voice especially when she did a cover of Sam Sparro's "Black and Gold" but she limits herself to as you say "typical pop". Lady Gaga has a fantastic voice but she hides it under electronic elements. I have nothing wrong with people who like Gaga but it is sad that she went the route she went in the music industry when she had such a great potential like Perry.
