Nick Swardson was hilarious on Doug Loves Movies. Though I was literally screaming at my iPod when he didn't get Back to the Future III in the Leonard Malton Game. Also I did not know that David Holmes is gay.

I don't think a single person mentioned the long-defunct Dan and Scott Show from the 90s. Sort of a precursor of the now popular podcast comedy show, it aired 5 nights a week for about 2-3 hours only on the internet in Realaudio or WMA streaming with some streaming archives that were kept up for a few years. About 6 years ago I lucked into some old shows from various places on the net, and I think there are currently some posted on youtube, but I still miss the experience of listening live and commenting about the show in the chatroom. It started on their own server, I seem to recall, then moved over to Talkspot.com with several other internet talk shows. These were the Seattle years and I thought the VERY best of the show. They had a lot of B-list guests, did prank calls, played games, did goofy stuff, etc. I used to record their shows onto audio tape and even hooked my computer into a VCR to get 2-3 uninterrupted shows saved. Then around May of 1999, Talkspot closed shop. From there they weren't anywhere at all for several months until they were on a site called Hitthebeach.com for a very short time before going to an new internet start-up called eYada.com for a show that lasted until the Summer of 2001. eYada was a little strange because it was a combination of a lot of little things that destroyed them. Deciding to put themselves in the middle of NYC was an unneeded expense, the popular wrestling show they had was kneecapped when the WWE forbid their talent from doing any unapproved interviews, and once prestigious sponsors were getting replaced with shadier and less high-paying ones. Once eYada went under, there was talk that D&S show MIGHT have ended up on satellite radio (well before Stern and Opie and Anthony) but nothing ever materialized.

I've discovered, Re: The Len Malton game, that I can usually guess in 0 or negative names for the movies that they sometimes have problems with. Elf was a big one from before (but that was months ago), as soon as they mentioned some black guy doing a voice, I caught it. This week when they said the year of the cross dresser movie and Len's reivew of it, I had it. I'm so pissed I missed when Doug Benson was in Nashville, but I seriously want to hit up one of his shows, even if it's in another city or state and try to get on stage for the game. I got tripped up on BttF 3 though. I had always thought everybody loved it, and even that some people considered it the best of the trilogy. So I was surprised when Doug said he didn't care for it, but otherwise I might have guessed that. Edit: And yeah, I double posted. I win the game.

He doesn't do the Len Malton game often at his live shows. Usually only when there is something going on in the city when a bunch of other comedians are available and he can throw a podcast out of it. The last week or so there has been a running joke across Bumbershoot podcasts with Doug being on almost every one mainly just to plug his new CD. He even steps out briefly in this weeks Nerdist to run next door and do another plug, but then is back by the end. He was in Boise a couple weeks back did his set then went and hung out in a restaurant up the street for a couple hours.

On the most recent ep of the Joe Rogan podcast, Rogan starts going about a pretty interesting story about a pool player who also was addicted to junk. While the story is pretty fascinating by itself, it has a conclusion that really bothered me for some reason. Not because it was unexpected, but it just ended in a really weird and bit disturbing fashion.

That goes a long way to make her seem less annoying. Plus being next to andy Dicks hysterics makes anyone seem mellow. I've actually met Ms. Garofalo in a social setting and she was rather pleasant. That that was when she was drinking so it was a long time ago.

My favorite game that game out of it is the "imdb plot keyword game" You try and guess a movie based on the IMDB plot keywords starting with really broad and getting more obvious.

I ran down Tig Notaro earlier, but the episode of CDR with her and Weird Al guest hosted by Paul F. Tompkins was pretty great. It's a pretty unlikely trio, but it was a great episode. The very next one with Matt Walsh and Nick Swardson was amazing, too (around 21 or 22, I think). The episodes guest hosted by Jimmy Pardo are funny if only for his barely contained loathing of comedy music. In short, this is a great thread, and thanks to turning me on to some great stuff.

They had their listeners go out into chatrooms around the internet pretending to be girls wanting to have phone sex. The listeners would then give the guy the phone number to the studio, where Dan and Scott would have a girl or their producer talk to and have phone sex with the guy. Then right as the guy is about to climax, they bust in with Star Wars sound effects and tell the guy he's been live on an internet radio show the whole time and basically make fun of him. How was that even legal?

The other fun game was "Scott Free On Hold" where they'd call up a business then in the middle of the conversation go, "Oh, hey, can I put you on hold a second, something just came up..." Their 'on-hold' radio station was Magic 105 hosted by Scott Free. It's a normal Top 40 station at first, then Scott Free gets pretty raunchy and graphic and they'd keep it up until the person on the other end would say something about it. Also, the Gary Game that I think they couldn't do on eYada at all. In fact, I think that they couldn't even NAME him on the show, only referring to him as 'Gary McBlank' due to a lawsuit threat. Someone posted it over on youtube and it's still pretty insane. Great memories of the show. XXX-Files, Manload On Hollywood, Rumor Mill, The Heisel Game (same as the Gary Game, different crazy message), etc. Just fun times. I resisted plugging my own podcast for a while, but what the heck. My associates and I have our first episode of Netdix in the can (just like your mother likes it). If you haven't guessed by the name, ours is a podcast in which we watch movies on Netflix's streaming service and then we are dicks about it. Since we're just starting out, some constructive criticism is encouraged and appreciated, as well as snide remarks, trolling and even flat-out insults and threats. I will say though I've been listening to Duncan Trussell's podcast The Lavender Hour and I like it a lot. If you like Rogan's podcast you'll dig it.
