Here's my set from last Friday night in the Beatport Lounge at Beta, for the 6ft DJs event. Straight balls-to-the-wall techhouse party music, a lot more upbeat than I've played in recent memory. It was a lot of fun :)

I was diggin around thru my CDs today and found one of my old mixes from 2002. Its hardass techno. Peak hour banging poo poo. Little overdriven in some spots but oh well.

No tracklist though....features artists like Glenn Wilson, Ignition Technician, Marco Bailey, Marco Carola, Adam Beyer, etc.

Have you ever danced with a crapatar in the pale moonlight?
Oh, why not. I've been making these odd DJ sets for a while in my bedroom (where the crowd always goes wild) and figured I'd post one here. The "Snoop Dogg Beats" thing goes on for too long, I know, but I didn't feel like going back and editing. Done in Ableton Live, with one turntable.

I have trouble remembering what goes into these, I don't keep setlists, so this was reconstructed from cryptic filenames and best guesses. 18 tracks (plus a few not listed), just shy of a half hour.

Some Kids Record-"I Found A Sound"
Koushik-Cold Beats
Trouble Funk-Drop The Bomb
Deodato-Also Sprach Zarthusta

And two more mixes from me. The first one is all drum'n'bass, from a radio/podcast I played last Friday. The second one, um, it's everything I like in one live set, recorded at a warehouse party in DC on October 1st. So I guess it's dnb in to dubstep in to a lot of other stuff. At one point I played some Roska stuff, Klute called me gay and then asked me to play some MJ Cole, specifically "Thekla Riddim". Fun set, fun party. Also, apologies for me using the auto-loop roll a little too much...

here's a short (15m) electronic dance music set i did a few days back. done live, all-vinyl except for the first track which was ipod-sourced. i just made it to practice a dance set that 1. would get my crowd dancing and 2. i could listen to later for fun. nothing obscure, all recognizable material.

bsod - this is also the hook
yelle - a cause des garcons remix
justice - waters of nazareth remix
lcd soundsystem - disco infiltrator
daft punk - face to face

Welp, I gone and made a Dub Step mix (holds up fist in hopes for a fist-bump from dantheman650).

I did it for a friend, but ended up really enjoying it by the end. I have only been toying with Dub Step, but this mix really kind of got me into it.

Here, take all you like, but listen to all you take:

I've also just put the finishing touches on a new Dn'B mix, but I still need to put in the intro. I'll post it when it's all set.

Mr. Spooky: God, I love your taste. I've started using Torq so I don't have to lug around all my records, but I actually do own like 40% of the songs you used on vinyl (picture disc for a couple).

Edit: Also, jonmitz, if you could, can I be placed in the OP as a Chicago DJ? Drum and Bass, Breaks, Dubstep and Hard House? Thankee.

Drum and Bass normally isn't my thing, but last year I took a stab at it to see what I could dig up. It turned out that there was a great deal the genre had to offer that I was completely over-looking.

02) Jett & Lm1 - Tommorow (Method One Remix)
03) Camo & Krooked - Climax

19. Lava Flow - Aphrodite
20. People Together - Bachelors of Science

I'm loving all the mixes on this thread so far; especially when I hear a song that I've mixed in before. I originally tried going from page one to present, but quickly realized that probably wouldn't work.

Also, I gotta start using soundcloud or something. I feel like I'm the only person not using it here.

Nice selection, more "party" an uptempo than most techno mixes I listen to.

It's funny, because when I was dj-ing out a lot (1998 through 2004 mostly) my poo poo was always considered way slower and mellower than the rest of the techno dj's. Now I'm always way more uptempo and jammin than the very same dudes. Funny world.

Mr. Spooky: God, I love your taste. I've started using Torq so I don't have to lug around all my records, but I actually do own like 40% of the songs you used on vinyl (picture disc for a couple).

Well, that mix was from like 2007 or something old like that. It's still lots of fun, though. I'm downloading yours right now :)

I'm not usually too into straight Techno, but this I liked! Your mix points were great, very smooth, and the variety of music was fun (there, that was my criticism). Keep up the good work!

Nothing wrong with an older mix, some of my favorite stuff still comes from when I got my first pair of turntables (around 2001 or so).
Speaking of older and Hip Hop, here is an Old School Hip Hop mix that I made a while ago. Everything except the last two tracks are older and were pretty popular. It's been a favorite among my friends so I'll post it here:

LOL I understand completely. I try my best to keep up with new releases and have built a considerate modern techno collection, but my brain is still hardwired for the oldskool sound (and tempo).
So in stead of the slow and dark promo I was supposed to make, I ended up with an all out classic mix AGAIN :suicide:

Congratulations, that makes you a DJ!

Just kidding, but seriously, I've met WAY too many DJs that are all like "WHAT?! You're not spinning on Tech 12's*?! Well, then you're not even really DJing, ya ask me."

*You can replace "Tech 12's" with whatever equipment they currently use to fit the situation.

I don't know how things are were you live, but over here in the Netherlands SL's are rapidly becoming a very rare commodity. And even if a club still has SL's, 9 out of 10 times they are completely worn out and spin like crap. :smith:

But enough of me derailing this thread. Here is my (un)fruitful mix for today. Oldskool techno galore, the way I like to end my night.

Actually, I've never seen a decent hip hop mix on here before - Someone should do something about that

To be honest, it seems pretty hard to find good hip hop mixes in general. I think i've only stumbled upon like 2 in the past year or so.

I think I've posted this here before but it's worth reposting.

So during my brief stint working at Beatport, I got to know the crew who were working on the now defunct hiphop version of the site, Beatsource. One of the label and content managers was DJ Chonz, who's pretty much a hiphop DJ legend in Denver. He posted up this 90s hiphop mix on soundcloud a while back and I still like to listen to it every once in a while because it's really drat good
