New CDR earwolf show coming out just announced at SXSW

quote:

Hey everyone, we'd like to announce our brand new show - Eardrop!

The show will be released daily (yes, that means 7 days a week!) at 10am PST, and will feature a unique format: no host, no moderators. Just all your favorite comics calling into an answering machine and leaving 60-seconds-or-less messages. We've invited some of our favorite comedians - and will be inviting more as time goes on - to participate, and are leaving the content of the show entirely up to them!

The show is created and published completely automatically each day, so no one is listening to it before it's released. Comedians call in, our computer magically creates a new episode from all the calls from the last day, and pushes it out to all of you.

The first episode will be released tomorrow (Monday, March 14) at 10am, and will be available via Earwolf.com as a direct download or RSS feed, iTunes, and the Earwolf iPhone app.

I literally just deleted the earwolf because it doesn't really do anything. Will I miss it?

Disapproving look
Just heard this on the KROQ podcast (I'm usually about a week and a half behind listening to the daily shows I subscribe to):

Barry Sobel and Fred Willard have a talk show called 3-Minute Talk Show, produced by Tom Hanks. Hanks is the first guest, there are a few episodes out already and they're on their own site plus YouTube. RSS links available too.

Barry Sobel used to be on Comedy Central and Ha! (pre-Comedy Central comedey channel) stand-up shows, and Fred Willard is 'that guy' you'll recognize from movies like Best in Show, Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, etc.

Thew new CDR has some great loving guests. Dave Foley, Tom Lennon, and Paul Rubens. I can't wait to listen to it.

Also new Doug Loves Movies has most of the cast of Parks and rec. loving awesome.

FYI, the latest Hollywood Babble-On (Jon Lovitz sitting in for Kevin Smith) and Smodcast (no Mozier this week, so they played old interviews [Smith and Mozier] during the release of Clerks) are very good.

Yeah, I remember when he was a guest on TSOYA or JJGo and did that a few times and it was always funny. I just started listening to Judge John Hodgman a little while ago and I've enjoyed them all so far. I really enjoyed the Tahitian Take-Out one. Super funny.

Listen to Judge Jon Hodgman. Has anyone else found that the shows have been progressively getting a lot better? This is to be expected, but still its gotten way better very quick. I think the Tahiti take out episode and the conetractual agreement are good starters.

I do however notice the show is highly prone to the quality of the callers. Hodgman can't really save a case bad callers since they are there for the whole episode (the christmas tree ep was unlistenable to me). Hopefully he'll get better at screening and we will have more like the takeout ep.

Adam Scott is possibly the best all-around guest and Leonard Maltin game contestant on Doug Loves Movies. Not only is he crazy good at the game, he's always hilarious.

For anyone who hasn't listened to Ask Mr. Biggs, last week they posted a sort of highlights show for their 5 year anniversary, I'd really recommend it as a great sampling of the show. It's been mentioned a couple times already but the show is bizarre and fantastic. It's also the best produced podcast I've ever heard, the site says a couple audio nerds are behind it, and it really shows.

Trying out a couple of other podcasts now that I've caught up with various ones that were recommended here. Even though I'm not a sports fan, I'm really enjoying Sklarboro Country. Some of the bits get kind of old (HENDERSON!), but so far it's not getting on my nerves.

I'm also weirdly fond of Jackie Kashian's "The Dork Forest". She's got some of the usual roster of rotating podcasters and comedians as guests, but mixes in some others that are out of nowhere. And the one with Paul F. Tompkins and his wife was kind of sweet. When she's got a guest from the upper midwest, it can get mired in regional references, but since I've got family up there it's nice to hear.
