Is there anyone who listens to Goddamn Electric Bill's mixtape, who can point me in the direction of something similar? It's a hard one as he gets around many genres, but perhaps some goon out there has good recommendations :)

Link Wray - Jack the Ripper (raw sound (not exactly surf))
Pollo Del Mar - Golden State (prog-type surf)
Los Straitjackets - s/t(straight ahead Modern surf)
Man.. or Astroman? - Destroy all Astromen (space sort of modern surf)
Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited - any (jet set instrumentals)
Jerry Cole & His Spacemen - Power Surf or any other big compilation (normal 60s surf)
Johnny & the Hurricanes - any compilation (50s instrumentals)
Switch Trout - any (speed instrumentals)

As to male vocal groups, The Orioles ("It's Too Soon to Know") and the Flamingoes ("I Only Have Eyes for You" are my favorite, because they were slow and sad and spacy.

Just discovered this song; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeZCGPqZS-4 Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode, especially this version of it.

I really enjoy the guitar, music and the gritty feeling. Great overall! I usually listen to rock and country. And more songs like this that anyone can recommend?

I'd recommend checking out more tracks from the album that song is from - Violator. It's a great album and had several of hits on it, so you may recognize some of the songs.

Enjoy the Silence is a great one, for example. World in My Eyes is another track from that album.

It seems in the general sense you are going for some chilled out/positive rap/lyrical-

This compilation album has a good mix of stuff showcasing some of the best of early 90's hip hop/rap.
http://www.discogs.com/Ice-T-Westside/release/577712

In particular the song 93' Till Infinity by Souls of Mischief / La Raza by Kid Frost.

But yeah- I also would reccomend hitting up Last.fm

Really want some more introspective, indie dance/electronica (or electric shoegaze) along the lines of, especially, Faunts and Delphic; and to a lesser extent acts like Hot Chip, The Postal Service, Depreciation Guild (but less bit-chippy), Sigur Rós (but faster rhythm) and New Order (but newish stuff, I like crisp production). I also like Bag Raiders' debut album a lot. Key elements would have to be good songwriting, not just meaningless short lyrics/sample repeated over music.

tl;dr: I really like Faunts and Delphic, please tell me my new favourite band tia

If setting the Sustain Level in the ENV to around 7, you can obtain a howling sound.

A simple request, should be easy:

I like the Misfits (90s era with Michale Graves, too, not just with Danzig). I also liked Project 1950, where they covered songs from the '50s a la punk.

Here's an example of a Misfits tune I love with a classic 1950s style hook:

The Forbidden Zone

Throw out some other bands that are close to this.

I always liked the Andrew WK split a lot, even though it was kinda just dumb noise rock. If I remember right, Dread is the "essential" one. Human Animal is the one that turned me onto them, but it is their big label sell out album.

I haven't really listened to them, but a lof of people compare Republic of Wolves to Brand New, even so much that people were fooled by some Youtube videos of RoW songs that claimed they were new BN demos.

This has a dark tone overall: Avalanche by Leonard Cohen. If you like that, it's from the album Songs of Love and Hate. This is another good album (and also the inspiration for the cover art of Ween's album The Pod).

I'm nuts about bands like the Royal Bangs, Morning Teleportation, Asteroids Galaxy Tour, anything thats sort of psychedelic rock.

Also some more folky stuff like Here We Go Magic, Maps & Atlases, Nana Grizol.

I'll love any recommendations for new stuff from either sound or a combination of the two.

The label Miasmah might have something that interests you (kind of more or less "dark ambient" than just plain dark acoustic music but hey at least it's dork ambient that doesn't suck)

FNS - FNS
Marcus Fjellström - Schattenspieler
Jacaszek - Treny

Also Erik K Skodvin's stuff, both under his own name and as Svarte Greiner. He's also in Deaf Center who just released a brilliant sophomore album which you could also check out.

So I've pretty much been a classic rock fan for most of my life. Recently though I've gotten into Daft Punk in a big way. I've pretty much been completely ignorant of anything made in the last 10 years though so I have no idea where to go next. What are the big ones that I've probably heard down town a million times before anyway? Not looking for anything particularly obscure.

If you like the distorted voices from Daft Punk, you will also like Moon Safari by Air France (obs! this is much more laid back compared to Daft Punk), you have probably heard sexy boy before. If its just the dance appeal of Daft Punk, you will probably like Cross by Justice and Idealism by Digitalism

Let me know what you think of these artists, and I will try to point you towards more if you feel like listening to more.
