I loved it at first, but I hit a wall in Patapon 2 where I just didn't know how I should be upgrading my patapons, felt wasteful when I did, and struggled to farm some stuff. I should give it another go.

Also loving Half Minute Hero. I picked it up ages ago, beat about 75% of the main mode, then got distracted by other games. I'm right back into it now though, it has a great sense of humour and unique gameplay.

My biggest issue with Patapon 2 is the last boss. He only starts telegraphing his moves about halfway through me inputting that round's command, so I can't react to most of his attacks. I've also thought I'd found a pattern several times just for him to shatter it and tear up half my forces.

Some Patapon types are simply better than others. As a general rule, the further right you go, the better the type. Dog, Pig, Deer are good all rounders. Tree has the most hitpoints. Penguin, once levelled up, has freeze attacks. Having a mix of types in a squad is always a good idea, as you mix your vulnerabilites with your strengths. The other thing to bear in mind is that the three ultimate patapon types cost incredible amounts of resources to level up fully, so it's unlikely that that will happen. Any other type, that doesn't rely on a rare resource like adamann, will probably reach the level 10 cap by the end of the game.

Lowclock posted:Jikandia is easily the worst video game I've played in years. Circle to jump and X to attack, with no way to remap buttons (except for CFW plugins)? Almost all text comes in the form of a one line tall text box that is like 12 characters wide, and skipping through it doesn't even work properly. The way you can swing your sword three times before you have to wait a minute isn't like a combo, especially when it's just the same swing three times, so it's just annoying. Some games pull off having simple graphics very well, but not this. Everything just looks kind of half-finished to me. It seems like the whole thing is just some quick and dirty flash game with a lovely translation. I played the demo and agree with you on everything except one point. Rather than looking like a flash game with a lovely translation, it looks to me like a cellphone game from four years ago with a lovely translation.

Anyone else playing the new FFIV rerelease on PSP? I have never played FFIV before so it's novel to me but the select button "AUTO" function is just great for random encounters if you are a bit impatient. Also, it's just personal preference, I suppose, but I think these PSP remakes are much nicer-looking and more likely to stand the test of time than the DS 3D ones, which remind me of the bad old days of awful PSX/N64 graphics. Also, it comes with "Interlude," which I think is all-new, and The After Years, which I guess got bad reviews but nevertheless costs money normally. Pretty good package. Also, should I try the FF2 remake after this or is it as awful as its reputation?

The biggest thing I'm glad about is them reducing how annoying bats are. In After Years they were especially bad because they almost always come in groups of at least 6 and are super agile, so you get to watch their drain animation over and over and it seems like it takes forever. In the PSP version they remade all the animations and that one is a lot shorter, and there's not as many of them, and they're not as fast. It was also really cool of them to have to option to switch between the newer sampled music or the old SNES music. I wish the same thing could be done for the sound. SNES's Bio sound was way cooler. This whole inventory limit thing is a pain in the rear end though. Why can't I just have an unlimited inventory instead of constantly having to head to Chocobo Island to free up space?

Is anyone playing Dissidia? I should've looked it up before, but ho goddamn does this cast suck. I mean, look at any of the Versus games, and then look at Dissidia. There is a lot of fun diversity in the Versus games, and in Dissidia all we have are emo 'main' characters. Even the loving Warrior of Light is ::facepalm::. I understand that they wanted representation from each of the FF games, but seriously where is Cid? Or chocobos? Or an airship? It's like they wanted a real-time Cloud vs. Sephiroth fight and never really figured out what to do from there.

Still, neat that something similar happened to both of us. I wonder why? The reason I came here however, is less lucky. At the same time I bought the memory card, I ordered a PSP-2000. It was used, but it came in great shape, the wi-fi worked fine, and I was able to grab some stuff off PSN, which also played just fine. Two days ago I bought a hard-copy of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. At first the PSP didn't want to recognize the UMD was in the drive, then when it did it would stall for several minutes during start-up at each screen before locking up at the main menu. I noticed that the drive door stuck up slightly at one corner. If I hold it down, the disk plays just fine (although it's pretty hard to play like that, and taping it down is a pain in the rear end when I go to take it out and put it back in). I returned the game (and downloaded a copy from PSN), but I'm wondering if there's a more permanent solution to this issue. PSN has a pretty good selection, but it would be nice to be able to pick up games at the much cheaper used price. Any ideas? RickVoid fucked around with this message at 21:22 on Apr 1, 2011 |

See if you can return it for a different one. If the drive isn't closing all the way there really isn't anything you can do short of replacing parts.

Yeah, I was hoping I could avoid doing that. Ah well. If I come across a used game that I can't turn down I'll just have to deal with the tape. Fortunately, I doubt that will happen, since there wasn't much of a selection at the used game shop.

Does the PSPGo have a longer battery life than the other models? I've been thinking of selling my PSP-3000 and just getting a Go as the last few games I've bought for the PSP have all been off the PSN store, and the ones I'm interested in getting eventually are all there as well. Apparently from what I have read the screen is slightly smaller, but are there any other cons other than the lack of a UMD reader (which I don't care about)?

It's about the same though some claim it's shorter. I went from a 1000 to a Go and it seems fine to me. The huge pros for me are the smaller form-factor, and the one game save-state you get. I also find it more comfortable to hold, and actually use the TV-out & PS3 controller connection periodically.
