TJ Miller killed it on Doug Loves Movies this week.

Think I may have to buy that two dollar live podcast or whatever he's hocking.

I had tickets to go see the show they were talking about but I was too sick to go, I'm really hating myself for being sick now.

I've only recently started listening too so my recommendations don't go as far back as others might:

8/12/2010: President Obama's bandmate stops by to share some white house secrets.
11/12/2010: A restaurant owner is mad at Tom's review, discusses the unseen season of "Archie Bunker's place" and sees the first mouse wearing a cape.
12/16/2010: The Four Loko party, do not miss this one
12/2/2010: An old man calls from his deathbed
3/31/2011: Tom tells a story about a Beatles convention that is amazingly pathetic
9/16/2010: Wally Wackiman and Hatch guest host, Wally Wackiman is in top form
10/7/2010: Theresa and Mike guest host, interesting just to see how awkward Mike can make things.

Once you've got the rhythm of the show the most recent one involves Tom finding a soundboard for one of the regular callers (Fredricks) and using it throughout the show, most notably with Fredricks himself.

There's a Best Show Gems podcast with classic bits over the years. Check out "A call from a Smirnoff Ice regional sales director".

I've got to say that Who Charted is probably my favorite podcast right now, I always laugh out loud. I think Howard is just gifted at asking stupid questions, and Kulap gives the show a great energy. Also I think the atmosphere of the show makes guests just... be their best I think.

My favorite part this week was when Thomas Lennon kept wanting to decapitate Kulap.

I've just listened to the first two Who Charted thanks to this thread, and I suspect I'll get through many of the rest tomorrow. Why the hell wasn't I listening to this before when I'm a Comedy Death Ray and Doug Loves Movies fan? Weird.

Also, on the subject of DLM and TJ Miller - he always kills it when he's on that show. I'm torn on the "TJ Miller Versus The World" episode from a while back though. I enjoyed TJ's riffing, but also felt bad for enjoying it because it was detracting from Doug's intention to get through games with 7 of the audience, and he was getting audibly pissed off as the show went on.

It was pretty funny how far he took it in that episode, until Doug was just annoyed.

Also, I just saw TJ Miller do stand-up a couple of weeks ago and he's brilliant.

No thanks goon sire I'm not the one complaining about podcasts on an internet forum

Pretty much all comedians with a podcast spend time promoting themselves because that exposure is the only compensation they're getting out of doing it.

I don't have any exact dates, but there was a sort of arc in 2008 for the election of the next Newbridge mayor. Notable candidates included Philly Boy Roy, Todd Palin, Gene Simmons, and Glen Danzig.

Also June 3rd 2008: Tom and listeners help Ted Leo write a song that he plays at the end.

People are under a lot of stress, Bradley.
I wonder if we'll look back to this time in a few years and roll our eyes at all the wordplay in podcast names. Who Charted, Grapes of Rad, Skeptic Tank, Skarlboro Country (not necessarily saying those are bad names, btw)...it just seems like in a while we'll go "Ah, remember when podcasting took off in the early 2010's and everyone had silly wordplay titles?"

If something's successful, or is fondly remembered, people forget about the pun and just accept it as a name or title. Like The Beatles or Led Zepplin. Or how Noxema was a clever spelling of "No Eczema" a hundred years ago. Something can even have a stupid name that has nothing to do with the work, like with the comic strip Peanuts.

But if something is terrible, then you tend to make fun of the wordplay forever. Like Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo is remembered because it is the most awesome title for a sequel in film history. Don't confuse adoration with mocking.

Also, it was nice that the musicians kind of took a back seat rather than co-hosting or constantly chiming in. Usually non-comedian CDRs are the worst to me but this one was good stuff.

I guess if I'm objectively wrong this doesn't matter at all, but she seemed way more like a friend who is occasionally clever than like a professional comedian. That's definitely plenty from a talented musician, but kind of a downer on a podcast that's usually so funny.

The 100th episode of Comedy Death Ray was pretty good. Really appreciated the semi-serious opening segment with the musicians. I've been burning out on how corny Scott Aukerman is. Best part was Rob Huebel talking to his 90 year old neighbor when Thom Lennon pulls up and says "Who wants to make $100 dollars the hard way?" then peels off, hahah.
