Slim Pickens posted:My dad's managed to kill two deer while on a motorcycle in his lifetime. The first one was at 70 or 80, he cut the bastard in half with a harley and shattered his tibia. The second one happened only a year ago. He was cruising on a guzzi eldorado and one tried running across, slipped going up a hill, and had its neck broken on the front crash bar. No damage to him or the bike, he was really lucky. That kind of thing happens when you live in northern Michigan. You absolutely MUST start painting deer on the side of his gas tank, before long his bike will look something like this

After the Harley was rebuilt post-deer cutting, a friend of his made him a badge to put on the bike. It says 'Deer Slayer' and now it resides on the Guzzi. He says a friend of his drew a reenactment of him cutting the deer in half, but he doesn't know where it went.

There's no excuse for running a goat straight ahead into anything--You've got all the torque in the world to keep the rear end swinging until it lines up or you run off the road. Making us look bad The comment about the guy being the dietician for the big guy on the motorcycle crew was pretty good. I was about to thumbs up a youtube comment for the first time ever. Here's some pointless poo poo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJec4fI5-bc on top of the mere fact of it, it's an 04 which is the ls1, not two, and he's got a spoiler replacement with a cute little fin thing you can get for monaros for god knows what reason. I'd love to hear someone who knows more about aerodynamics talk about whether that smooth fin does anything in comparison to the full wing. Though the gto isn't really a low end car anyway. I was following one on my m109, and I was fine keeping up until *cough* the speed limit, but then as his speed went higher, he just walked away from me, and this was uphill on a freeway. I imagine the daytona would outpace it easily. This is part of the reason I got into bikes. They're way more fun at the speed limit. When I bought that car I kept pushing it and had to be in court a few times lawyering my way out of a ticket until I got the message to use cruise control at all times so I wouldn't be tempted to enjoy myself. I have no tickets on my bikes, relatively minor road rash, one pair of torn pants, and all of it was legal! That's a really great value.

I just watched all of rnickeymouse's videos and I gotta ask: Do you ever know you're going to lowside? In one of the highside videos, the guy gets on the throttle too much while leaned over, starts to lose the back, then corrects, which flips him off the front. Should you just say "oops, I'm gonna lay 'er down now" or what? And what causes most lowsides in turns like that? Too much lean? Too much speed? Rear brake? Front brake?

babyeatingpsychopath posted:I just watched all of rnickeymouse's videos and I gotta ask: I lowsided on the track once. It was a strange feeling of just knowing it was going to happen, but too late to do anything about it. I didn't feel a sudden slip, nor was there any one moment. It was just a realization that I was about to go down, and down I went. As to what causes it, that one was old tires and too much lean angle. I don't think I was going that fast, and later on once I had better tires, I could handle the same corner at a much higher speed. On those corners, I imagine the camber change would really mess with you. It doesn't look, at a glance, like it's that sharp of a turn. Of course, braking too hard could certainly make a bad situation worse. Pagan fucked around with this message at 01:43 on May 7, 2011 |
