Anyone else not been able to change their PSN password? I've been trying for the past 2 days and the website is always either non-responsive or down for maintenance. It blows because I really want to watch some Netflix, and until I can change my password I can't. :colbert:

EDIT: Should have mentioned I would have posted this in the PSN thread but it's locked, and seems to be staying locked.

Thank God for that.

Maybe I'm just bad at video games :shobon:

It's kind of weird how that works. I swear in Killzone3 half my deaths were from the exact same thing. I'd be aiming and all of a sudden I'm trying to stab someone 5 miles away.

Of course the other half of my deaths were from infiltrators walking up to me and gouging my eyes out :suicide:

For the first ~month of the outage we could still watch Netflix by just clicking ok and canceling a few PSN logins. Now Netflix will go to the browing of instant queue, but not actually start any movies. I'd rather they just left the PSN down than try to fix it and actually break Netflix.

Netflix works fine for me. Has since the psn came up. But I know there are different clients.

Yeah, Netflix works fine for me on both of my machines.

Modig, have you tried calling netflix about it? I am sure they have troubleshooting processes they can go through with you to get your issue resolved.

Maybe the psn store will be up in the next month. It's taken them so long to do anything that hackers will be queuing up to kill the service right after it is restored.

A shame it isn't running though as I'm not busy seven days a week now.

There wasn't a heads up post (except moments before) PSN Online functionality came back on either. If they announce days ahead of time that the store is coming up May 30th at 8am PST, you will have an ungodly number of people mashing the Store button at 7:59am.

The 31st is Tuesday which seems somewhat auspicious since that'd be the normal update day anyway.

To be frank, if they wanted to mitigate serious bandwith bumrushing, the smart money would be on turning it on to little mention or fanfare sometime on Sunday (today) on a holiday weekend known for travel.

If they quietly wait for Tuesday, that being a normal Store day AND the last day of the month, everyone's gonna be waiting anyway...

I would like to see sales figures for recent cross-platform games, because I'd imagine X360 is killing everything now due to simply having online access. I'm sure game developers are not happy at all with Sony wrecking their profit margins.

I doubt there's much of an impact for retail sales. Most people probably aren't going to just not buy a game they want because PSN is down, and anyone who decides to buy it for 360 instead still gives the same money to the developer/publisher.

They did talk about giving away 100 free items as a part of bringing the services back. I might log into home a second time to check out the free items and then never use it again.

The best content they could add to Home would be a button that allows me to delete it from my XMB.

I wish we could just download a game from the disc to the HD. That way I wouldn't have to switch discs around all the time. I only really play 3 games constantly, and would love to not have to switch the discs around. (Yeah, I know. Lazy)

If they ever implemented that, they would do it like the 360 system where you still need the disc in the drive otherwise they would be opening themselves up to ridiculously easy piracy.

Unless you want to give the idea of "license codes on console games" some more force.

Ah, I didnt know thats how it worked with the 360's. Not that I ever looked into it really, I just meant installing to the harddrive meant you didnt need the disc anymore. Thanks :)

Ive often thought about this myself. Grant it is such a hated feature on the majority of pc games. But if it was used in a limited way such as only being needed when downloading to games to a hd, maybe it would not be such a bad idea.

However with the relative ease of access to to keygens in piracy, console manufactures may still not chose to give this legitimate support.

It'll feel like the big elephant in the room if they don't say anything about it but it would be best if they didn't say anything. The goal is definitely to promote games and not highlight the fact they got hacked.

This is kind of goofy since technically every companies focus is on its consumer, but I think that Sony wont reference the hacks directly at E3 but its center theme will be appreciation for its fanbase, and how they want to create a "safe and exciting" zone for their fans to come to on a daily basis.

Sounds boring as poo poo.

How about updating the in-game XMB to include new and exciting features such as IN-GAME PARTY CHAT and making it faster so it doesn't take 5 seconds to load while in-game?

I don't know, think of a game like Mortal Kombat which is primarily online-focused and came out right around the time PSN got hacked. I guess the publisher still gets paid if the consumer buys it for 360, but I would also guess that not every consumer has both a PS3 and a 360 so there is a hit to sales somewhere.

Interesting point, but if someone only owns a PS3 and they decide not to buy a game cuz PSN is down, does it really still deter them from purchasing it once PSN is back up?

Well, my point was that I don't think that many PS3-only people would decide just not to buy it.

I would totally be down with a one time redeemable license code that allowed you to install a game on your hard drive. It would have to lock out the used market for sure, but I guess theoretically it might be possible.

Bordering on a pipe dream though. Would never happen though.

So if I want a decent 360-style PS3 controller, is the Nyko Raven the only really decent option? And then maybe the Dreamgear Shadow 6 after that?

Anyone had any experience with either of those?
