only thing i don't like about it is they keep referencing poo poo in the TOS articles about how the crew hated eachother and poo poo and giving references, but then when you click on whatever article they link to it has almost nothing about it. i wanna read about how nimoy was a drunk and poo poo

i have probably half of memory alpha committed to memory because it owns. but i'm not here to talk about memory alpha, or even memory beta - the non-canon, expanded star trek universe wiki

i'm here to talk about Memory Gamma

Memory Gamma is a wiki for star trek fan ficton. for example, what's up with B'Elanna Torres these days?

she's now part of the Imperial Starfleet! and who's the captain of the starship voyager? why, it's still janeway. but she's undergone some changes:

in conclusion, memory gamma loving owns

The first thing detectives from the Toronto police sex crimes unit saw when they entered Roderick Cowan's apartment was an autographed picture of William Shatner. Along with the photos on the computer of Scott Faichnie, also busted for possessing child porn, they found a snapshot of the pediatric nurse and Boy Scout leader wearing a dress "Federation" uniform. Another suspect had a TV remote control shaped like a phaser. Yet another had a Star Trek credit card in his wallet. One was using "Picard" as his screen name. In the 3 1/2 years since police in Canada's biggest city established a special unit to tackle child pornography, investigators have been through so many dwellings packed with sci-fi books, DVDs, toys and collectibles like Klingon swords and sashes that it's become a dark squadroom joke. "We always say there are two types of pedophiles: Star Trek and Star Wars," says Det. Ian Lamond, the unit's second-in-command. "But it's mostly Star Trek."[50]

yeah I was pretty young and dumb. After finishing the Belgariad and (wrongly) thinking it was the best thing ever I was briefly convinced that multiple book fantasy series were the only things worth reading. Also I had a few friends who were obsessed with wot, to this day I still don't understand the attraction

The series peaks at book 4/5 then goes downhill until Robert Jordan died and then the new guy has done a really good job of making poo poo happen. If you've made it that far give the Sanderson written ones a chance, the pacing is worlds better.

that's what he thought too, the problem is he went in with the objective of closing all the plot threads that Jordan left open

so the new guy just kept writing... and writing... and writing...

he got to about 400,000 words and realized he was maybe halfway done, and they had to split it into a trilogy because even robert jordan wouldn't have been able to get an 800,000+ word book published, his biggest book ever was just under 400K words

some other book wordcounts for comparison:

2001 A Space Odyssey: 61,487
Dune: 185,723
Battlefield Earth: 387,953
The whole Lord of the Rings trilogy: ~454,000
War and Peace: "over 560,000"
Atlas Shrugged: ~645,000
The Bible: ~775,000
